Too bad a lot of crappy people are still holding minister positions, but hey.... could be worse with Smith I guess, so guess that's a positive.

Also, really odd. Smith made a lot of bluster about this being a rural focused and dominated cabinet, and yet...
...by my rough count, half are from calgary, one more effectively calgary (airdrie), you throw in edmonton/edmonton area (madu, glubbish, etc), and this is almost entirely a city dominated cabinet.
I.e. the exact opposite of what she said?

I guess at the end of the day Smith has good enough political instincts to see Kenny's cabinet was engineered for minimal discord and resistance and to not look that gift horse in the mouth.

Yeah, I was expecting a bit more of a Calgary purge. In the end McIver, Pon, Fir, Panda, Yaseen, Issik were all turfed from cabinet, while Amery and Milliken were added, so still some reduction there. Some of those losses are from key swing ridings.

Sure, ya, Alberta should have found therapeutics that the rest of the world just happened to miss? This is a perfect example of why she is so clueless and unfit to govern. Clearly the undertone of her statement is that ivermectin and hydroxchlorequine were not used, and should have been, despite them being repeatedly shown to be as ineffective as her brain cells. She doesn't care what science or experts have to say, she's smarter than the lot of them!

All I want from a provincial government is support of strong public health and public education. Reasonable plans for economic stability, and reasonable plans for environmental protection.
What's with these promises for sweeping changes? We don't need sweeping changes, we need stability.

Sure, ya, just use politicians to overrule the health and justice system. Just like most banana republics do. She hasn't even been elected yet. WTF is going on here? She has no mandate from Albertans, doesn't represent us. You want a mandate? Go to the polls. Until then this is a farce.

Good catch, but even some of those are parliamentary secretaries - Yaseen and Fir are, and Issik might be?

Without sweeping changes how can we quickly privatize everything without creating a huge uproar? When it comes to healthcare in Alberta, we need to create a narrative that they are useless so can usher in the era of Naturopaths and all other alternative health care practices that aren't based on any actual science.

Soooo...anyone else write to their MLA to let them know what an unqualified embarrassment Smith is? I figure the least I can do is tell him his constituents do not support the new leader. Though he did just get a cabinet position...I do think it is worthwhile letting them know.

I would, but ... y'know, there's no need to do a byelection in Calgary-Elbow, apparently.

I tried in the past to contact my MLA Roger Reid and all I got was a canned response they read to the media nd in question period. Waste of time!

It is, actually. CCC 176.1, 2 and 3
But the word that the Freedumbers tend to forget/trip up on in regards to pastors being arrested is "unlawfully". They tend to misinterpret 1(a) and 1(b.ii) to mean "Can't arrest a pastor".
But yes, Joe Public could end up in a pretty interesting court case and with some jail time over the CCC 176

The people who told everyone to get over the pandemic are struggling to get over the pandemic. Imagine?
