A few of the differences.
R-CG allows individual units to apply to have a secondary suite in the basement level, whereas H-GO allows the lower level to be a separately titled unit. H-GO can have multiple configurations of units as long as each unit has it's own separate direct access to grade.
On un-laned parcels R-CG has a 7.5m minimum setback from the rear property line. H-GO has a 5m rear setback. 1.2m for both when laned.
R-CG has a max height of 11.0m, while H-GO has a max of 12.0m district height. When adjacent to an H-GO or M-CG there's a modified max height based on the geodetic of the adjacent building. In simple terms H-GO gets another metre in that situation as well. R-CG has an additional height condition for corner parcels while H-GO does not.
R-CG has a height restriction of 8.6m for the portion of the building between 60% building depth and the rear property line. H-GO does not have this restriction. You'll see development on the lane in H-GO as tall as on the street side. In R-CG it'll be limited to Accessory Residential Building dimension, however this won't be the case for long as Laneway Housing rules are going to be allowed soon I hear. There is a way to put units on the lane in R-CG under special lot conditions but generally the units/ha have maxed out in the main building, and the height + parking requirements ends up restrictive.
H-GO has a 1.5 Floor Area Ratio. R-CG does not have a FAR.
R-CG has more conditions on balconies.
H-GO requires waste and organics in a screened area. R-CG only has to have it once it reaches three units.
Lot coverages are equivalent I believe, and are based on the allowable units and unit counts.
I expect both R-CG and H-GO to get some official bylaw adjustments if the blanket zoning gets approved.
