Another major where you can literally skip half the draw because there's no intrigue at all. They really need to start rigging draws to keep things interesting.

Genie takes the opening set 6-1 - Playing aggressive and committing a few too many unforced errors, but definitely pushing her opponent all over the court.

nevemind Fed's bs draw, Zverev having his own quarter at any major at this point is crap. he'll be gone long before his semifinal appointment. and as dangerous as Delpo sometimes is, guaranteed he'll have played 2 or more five setters by the 2nd week and will put up tired/injured resistance for his QF or SF opponent.

Serena Williams is seeded #17 at the US Open this year even though her ranking is 26. I know Wimbledon messes with the seeding but this is the first time I can remember where another major has done the same. Anyone know if this has been done before outside of Wimbledon?

Genie advances to the final round of qualifying with a 6-1 6-2 win - Hitting the ball with authority today, nice to see.

Doesn't matter if he loses. Polansky will simply complete the lucky loser slam and find his way into the main draw anyway.

Update - Monteiro lost. So you've got, I guess, 4 guys who need to win their upcoming matches (all of whom are favoured) and then Polansky has to lose.
It could happen!

The way he's playing right now, I would suspect Polansky will come back and win the match against Young to qualify on his own right. If not, i'd say he has a pretty realistic chance of obtaining a (LL) as you'd think at least 3/4 ahead of him will win their matches as they are all favored.

Cuevas from Uruguay has withdrawn so there is now 1 LL spot available.
The only guys in the 3rd round seeded higher than polansky are #5, 6, #9 and #10.
If any one of them wins, Polansky is guaranteed at least to be in the LL draw (25% chance).
