Hope the Devils put up a better challenge than all of Florida did. This team needs to save these kinds of efforts for next fall where they can count towards something. All I care for in the final games is Backlund to get 20 (if he gets back), Money to finish strong and one dominant showing against the Canucks. Gotta wrap up 4th for the good of the organization now.

I don't really know much about these prospects other than what I ready on this board.

Does Dal Colle have first line potential?

What is the drop off from Bennett to Dal Colle?

Most lists that I am seeing have Reinhart and Ekblad 1-2, and it is a toss up from #3 onwards.

Is Bennett a #1 center or a #1A?

Is Dal Colle better than Porier?

I'm not qualified to answer all of them, but from what I have heard, some scouts say that Dal Colle belongs in the same tier as the top 4 and other scouts don't, so I don't think it's conclusive at all.

As far as 1st line potential goes, I think so. Some of the players available further down in the draft have 1st line potential, but a lower likelihood of reaching it. I have read that some people don't think any of the top 4 or 5 are sure fire 1st liners this year.

Yes Dal Colle has first line potential. I would say he has a higher offensive ceiling that Poirier, but not the versatility that Poirier does (e.g. playing the PK, being able to play a shut down role or just being an agitator).

The line being touted by a few scouting services is that there is a clear top 4 of Draisaitl, Bennett, Reinhart and Ekblad. Dal Colle is just a notch below that top 4 or some would put him in with that group. Some scouting services have Ehlers in that 2nd tier.

Red Line Report describes Bennett, Draisaitl, and Reinhart as all being at minimum 2nd line centers in the NHL, with the potential to be #1. I would say to keep expectations reasonable that would realistically mean a 1a center.

The drop off from Bennett to Dal Colle would be intangibles such as leadership and grittiness and a full 200 foot game. Dal Colle has the upside in size, but he isn't a physically dominating presence and while he claims to have a 2 way game, some scouts says it has been lacking.

He is LW. I think he has played center before but was forced to the wing because of the other centers on his team..

If Dal Colle is a center than having two 6`2`` centers would be nice to have.

Dal Colle could always be transfered to centre next year he will likely be back in junior and with Laughton in the Ahl their first line centre spot is up for the taking. It would make him focus on his defensive game too which can't hurt at this point.

I think it's kind of unlikely to expect a guy who's playing wing in junior to move to the middle in the NHL. If he's getting pushed to the wing in the CHL, it's going to happen for sure in the NHL.

Tamp's trying it with Drouin, who knows how succesful it will be but its something worth looking at at least.

It is always a bit tough to say at this point. For instance, Drouin was pushed to wing last year in order to play with MacKinnon. In Tampa's training camp, they pushed him back to center as they liked him more there. On the flip-side, Huberdeau was always a center, but then got switched by Florida to wing as they felt he made for a better winger than a center.

I wouldn't hold my breath on Dal Colle being switched to center either, but he might with Laughton gone.

DC's got experience at center, just played wing this year mostly. He can always be moved back for a year while putting on that weight and working on the 2-way game, then come in and try for a center spot.

But to be safe, I think we should take one of the full time centers if one is still available.

I'm starting to open up to the idea of drafting Draisaitl...I was pretty unimpressed at the world juniors, but with all the scouts talking about him like a Malkin-like talent, he sounds like he could end up being a great pick.
Basically what I'm saying is that any one of the top four would be fantastic.

The way I am seeing it now is Edmonton possibly will go #3 rather than #2. I think They'll play good enough to take the third spot, just because Florida is horrible. I think the top 5 goes down like this if we get the 4th spot:

1. Buffalo - Reinhart/Ekblad
2. Florida - Ekblad/Reinhart/Bennett/Draisaitl
3. Edmonton - Draisaitl/Bennett/Ekblad
4. Calgary - Bennett/Draisaitl
5. NYI - Dal Colle/other, maybe Ritchie

The ones I bolded are the ones I see happening

Buffalo will only pick Ekblad if they probably plan to trade Myers, otherwise, I don't see them picking Ekblad rather than Reinhart.

Florida could use another defensive prospect, so if Reinhart gets picked they will probably go with Ekblad, unless they go with the next best centerman which is Bennett or Draisaitl.

Assuming Edmonton doesn't have the option of Reinhart, they will go for Ekblad next. But if Buffalo or Florida takes Ekblad, Edmonton will likely pick Draisaitl over Bennett because of size, something they lack in.

Calgary I think goes for the BPA, and from my picks, they will pick Bennett. If for some miracle Ekblad is still there after three picks, of course we take him. Draisaitl would also be a great pick if the other top 3 are chosen.

Islanders need a winger, they'll either pick Dal Colle or Ritchie. If they go risky, they'll pick Ritchie instead of Dal Colle but I don't see that happening, given the polls I've seen.

Of course keep in mind I am no scout, I am just guessing how the draft will go based on my assumptions.

Well thought out! That's exactly how I see it going down as well. Assuming that's the order on draft day anyways.

The Islanders might even take Dal Colle if they're ahead of us at 4. They might want the top line potential winger since they don't really have one and they might be satisfied with Tavares and Strome as their 1/2

But I guess if Bennett is there they could just take him and move him to wing.

Good point, Isles might take Dal Colle even if we're picking 5th.

Strong, strong feeling we end up with one of Bennett or Draisaitl.

To add to this for the Flames the Jets/Canucks will be on the second night of a back to back when we play them while the Canadians/Devils/Sabres will be for the Islanders. The Jets/Canucks will be playing their final games of the years against us so who knows what their compete level will be like.

That's a great 1-2 paring of centers mind you. For many many years. So I definitely could see the Isles go for a big sized winger like Dal Colle or Perlini.4

The closer it gets to the end of the season, the more I want Bennett to land in the Flames' lap. For the love of all that is holy, please let that happen.
