No, I'm not for a second arguing that a gun wouldn't do more damage than a knife in the same situation, that would indeed be absurd. What I was trying to say is there have been knife attacks that have produced body counts you would normally associate with a gun attack and it sounded to me like corporatejay was implying that wasn't possible with a knife.

PHOENIX - Two 15-year-old girls were shot and killed at Glendale's Independence High School, according to police, and officers did not search for an active shooter.

What we know:

-Two 15-year-old female students killed just before 8 a.m. near the main building
-Weapon found near their bodies
-Police responded within two minutes, did not search for a shooter

What does being an Uber driver have to do with him going crazy and shooting people? He had a registered handgun as well..lets talk about that.

He was shooting people in between picking up fares.

Not saying that Uber directly contributed to the killings, but it's a relevant piece of the story.

Yeah that part of the story came out later, I wondered why they bothered to say he was a driver for Uber.

Social media saying he was a big NRA guy and freaked out everytime Obama brought up gun control and he had multiple weapons at home.

the most telling part of this post is the stat about how many Americans have died because of terrorism, 3,380 and the number of deaths by guns in America is 406,496.

Do something about the guns, particularly handguns. I just don't understand how this can continue to happen, it seems every other month down there and nothing is being done. It is moronic.

In all seriousness, they should move to at least reduce the number of weapons entering society. While I grant you it is difficult to make all the weapons disappear, the current model in the US is not working.

At least in my opinion.

This mess have been made over the 200 or so years. It may take over 200 years to fix.

Aside from the obvious needing to change the gun culture in the US (which I don't know how you start on that one), one thing that could be done is to curb or diminish the sensationalism that mass shootings receive in the US media. Look at the rise in people looking to get armed after big shootings. The media whips up their viewers with fear and then they go out and buy a gun.
