Anybody know who was initially credited with the goal (as announced in the arena)?

Same thing happened awhile back (except I was driving) -- they started talking about Gelinas scoring a PPG in overtime of Game 7 against the Canucks in 2004. Immediately guessed that they were going to ask who was in the penalty box for Vancouver -- it was Jovanovski #jovomonkey

Since December 23rd of 2017 Milan Lucic has two goals in 66 games. Knew it was bad, but not that bad.

Anyone have a video link to McDavid's embellishment penalty last night? I'd like to see it. I googled it but didn't come up with anything.

Their fail is that they can enter fine, with McDavid carrying, but once he's there and didn't score on the rush, he's no better than the top guy on most teams. And when he kicks it to the point, teams can relax because they aren't doing anything with it.
Calgary's powerplay isn't good, but I take the personnel over Edmonton's first unit. Gaudreau can distribute as well as McDavid off of a cycle. Monahan shoots at least as well as Draisaitl and they also have Lindholm who is a hybrid of Monahan and Gaudreau. Gio is way better than their defencemen and Tkachuk versus Chiasson is laughable.

Last night on CHED they were rationalizing McDavid's embellishment penalty.
I forget if it was Rob Brown or Reid Wilkins who said:
"McDavid and Crosby are the two strongest players on their feet in the NHL" or some other garbage like that.
That is absurd, they play completely different games.
They said the refs know this so, it's why when McDavid goes down easy they have to call it, because they know he's so strong.
Uhmm... ok.. whatever.
McDavid is a great player, but his strength is not being strong on his feet or his edges. Crosby moves and digs in his edges like no other. He grinds in the corner and makes plays if need be. McDavid has elite hockey sense, but no ability to grind with a low centre of gravity and use his body strength to fend off and utilize defenders in the corners or on the wall to make plays.
What I find the most absurd about the notion is that they are mutually exclusive. McDavid's strength is speed both forward and lateral to deceive defenders put them on their heels because he could go any direction at any time and make a play... or burn them.
His speed is literally dependent on touching and digging as little ice as possible to reduce friction on his glide and maximize push optimally. It's counter-intuitive to being strong on your skates. That's why he went into the corner and busted his collarbone.
Additionally, strength on your skates requires a body type like Crosby with lower body muscle mass not a slight build like McDavid. It's simple physics.

It's one thing to have a rivalry between fans, but wishing injuries upon opposing players by multiple posters in several posts is a pretty strong self-condemnation of the Oilers fan base.
Thank goodness for the moderators here at CP and to Gaskal who has to wade through all that trash to put together the ATL.

I know. If anything we don't want McMuffin to get injured because then it's lottery city again for those trolls.

I don't even understand what Tkachuk did exactly? What action took place on his part during that game that requires him having to answer to Kassian?
Draisaitl slew-foots Tkachuk.
Backlund hit McDavid, Connor was triggered so he pulls Backlund down to the ice, Tkachuk comes in and barely even touches McDavid.
Kassian then goes into primate mode and tries to initiate a fight with an unwilling Tkachuk and throws a bunch of punches.
Tkachuk gets slew-footed and then attacked by a neanderthal yet still is somehow the one who needs to answer the bell for his "actions", just crazy stuff coming from Edmonton.

Well it's the same sort of reaction we wished for when we played against Esa Tikanen. It took 25 years, but it's payback Oilers!

Oh it's bad. Always assumed it would get to that point at some point over the life of his contract. But not in year 2 and early in year 3.

If he can keep this pace up he'll finish the contract with 14 goals in 456 games.

The argument was basically because McDavid is so strong on his skates he purposely went down so the refs would take notice of a supposed infraction. It was about the dumbest excuse I've heard to justify a dive.

That's $1.714 million per goal.
Bargain!!
The Oilers couldn't purge that contract by sending a first-round pick with it.
The rest of the league is more than willing to watch that contract rot and watch the OilBoys choke on their four #1 picks.
That's why they couldn't get anything for Hall, everyone knew how good McDavid was/is, so why would they do a sideways deal involving elite assets with Edmonton that would help both teams.
In some fantasy world Oiler fans seem to think the rest of the teams forgot this, as they craft their absurd trade proposals.
Think about Colorado.
They had the worst season this Millenia and didn't get a top 3 pick for it because of the Oilers Sewer System necessitating changes to the draft rules/odds.

This is not a political site.... but really.... Acosta did NOTHING wrong - REALLY... he asked two questions (if you can call them that - they were more like statements, which aren't allowed btw), both of which the president answered anyhow, then... he wouldn't give up the microphone, and then he knocked the arm of the female intern away after she was just trying to do her job and pass the microphone on. Most reporters only get one question. If any reporter showed that behavior in an Obama press conference, they wouldn't get away with it and nor they should. The Flames wouldn't put up with that behavior as well. It's not a political thing - it's called respect and civility, I don't care who the President is, you treat them with the respect.
Now... please don't mix hockey with politics, this is an escape for us... Sorry guys.
