I would think a trade like Edmonton's 1st and C Sam Gagner to Buffalo for D Tyler Myers and RW Chris Stewart would be awesome for both teams.
Edmonton gets immediate help, and Buffalo gets to draft Ekblad and Reinhart.

Also, stats don't tell the story as Ottawa was a garbage garbage team. Hard to rack up the points when your teammates suck. See Mono's assists this year on the Flames as an example.

There are only 6-7 players that are going to hit 80 points this season.
You're basically saying Monahan is going to be a Kopitar level player.
Seems like lofty expectations for young players is universal across all fanbases.

If we slide to 5th, Michael Dal Colle would be a great pick. He is probably is the best goal scorer in the draft.

After tonight we're back in 5th and knowing our luck, the Isle are going to go on a slide.

True - but lately they've been on a tear and have to be feeling good about themselves and also working hard. In short they're like Flames jr.

Yeah, the 4th overall will be short-lived... NYI have a game in hand, but I just don't get the feeling they'll play as well as Calgary. That 5th overall spot is likely ours.

You're right; I just don't see the Isles winning that difference. They're just not as good as Calgary, IMO.

Plot thickens with Oil getting two points tonight and moving into 28th overall. Going to be a really interesting draft.

I hear what you're trying to say. However, how you are saying it is very mis-leading.
Yes, there will only be a handful of guys hit 80 points this season. There are very few players that get 70-80 points every season. But that's not what he said.
Being a 70-80 point guy 3 times in 5 or 6 years, for example, would certainly qualify. Even your example of Kopitar, who is an elite player in the opinion of most, only has one 80 pt season, three 70 pt seasons (plus was on pace for low 70s last year) and two 60 pt seasons. He is probably in the 60s again this year.
Being a 70-80 point player doesn't mean doing it every year, or basically only Crosby would qualify.
It is not unrealistic at all to suggest that Monahan could have some 70-80 point seasons.
Despite your repeated attempts to suggest Flames fans are being unrealistic, I have not seen anyone making crazy, homer predictions, like multiple 100 pt seasons or anything like that (such as what you occasionally see on Oiler boards)

I will believe 5th when its clinched even. I realize its a long shot but I could see them winning out the string. This is the flames we're talking about, when the games get meaningless they seem to find another gear.

The Isles have 2 games in hand and are only 1 point back. They have been playing great lately and will likely win one of those 2 games in hand to stay ahead of us. Plus our next 2 games are against a desperate New Jersey team and the Kings.

Hopefully Calgary can lose out, which is very possible since we are playing the Devils, Kings, Jets, Canucks.
Then all it will take is one Islander win in their final 6 games to finish above us.
Thus, giving us a chance at one of the top 4 players (Reinhart, Ekblad, Bennett, Draisaitl) and better odds to win the draft lottery!
I don't care if anyone calls me less of a fan for hoping for losses. 4 meaningless games at the end of the season are not going to change the culture of this team from winning to losing. The draft pick position is much more important at this point.

Josh Ho-Sang was snubbed for Team Canada's U-18 camp. He was also snubbed for the Ivan Hilnka camp.
Got to wonder what the story is here, and if whatever reasons Team Canada has also drops him to the 2nd round.

We very well may. Devs are still fighting for a playoff spot and should put in a good effort. Kings should beat us. The Jets and Canucks are only playing for pride but have substantially more talented rosters right now than our banged-up pseudo-AHL/NCAA squad.
That said, the Lightning simply didn't want to put in the effort to beat our rag-tag group of go-getters, so anything is possible.
The Isles have some very winnable games coming up, starting tonight against a plummeting Capitals crew.

...which means we'll actually win every one except for the Canucks.
Book it!

Me - first, glory hog attitude would be my guess. Burke is guaranteed not going with this guy after the "headcase" and "Do Not Draft" talk he had before.
