I think that there should be a bit of media buzz before and after the first leg. But I get what you're saying. Split seasons, Canadian Championship cup run, Wild Rose cup, etc. is all a bit different than the season > playoffs > champion formula that North American sports use.

Well that was fun. Was the trophy presentation shown on CBC?

Flames will likely dominate this week in sports coverage, local and national, with the Heritage Classic next Saturday.
Flames then on the road all of next week so hopefully local coverage kicks in for the Cavs heading into the home leg. CBC has been good with having game stories on the CBC Calgary website, just need word of mouth and get some grass roots messaging out there.
Be nice, even if the CSEC doesn’t own them, to have some of the Cavs at the Flames game to pump that up Tuesday, as they may travel Thursday or Friday to Hamilton.

The Flames had Tommy and some players at several games last season for interviews between periods. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if it happens again this week

I still don't like the playoff format.
If you win Spring and Fall you shouldn't have to play a two leg playoff to determine the champion.
You won the league at that point - plain and simple.

Or maybe it's an intra-squad game and party for the fans!

But then how do you propose we give Forge another opportunity to win something? HOW?

Honestly, I am not even worried. Cavalry have played 14 league play home games this year, and they have only allowed 8 goals. Impressively they have never allowed more then 1 goal in a game at home. In fact they have never let in more then 1 goal ever. Even the Montreal impact could only score 1.

Cavalry are very clearly the best club in the league, given that they:
- Won the Spring season
- Won the Fall season
- Scored the most goals
- Gave up the least goals
- Went the furthest in the Voyageurs Cup, despite starting in the first round, including knocking out Forge
- Didn't have any coaches suspended for racist comments
The fact that they have to play Forge twice more to officially win is ridiculous, especially since the format was only announced once it became clear Cavalry would win the Spring season. It just feels like this will end up as a Forge win.
Will just be sweeter when Cavalry prove yet again that they are better than Forge.

This is probably a better suggestion for when we are reduced to off season banter, but the Foot Soilders should organise some sort of lyric to chants publication. Whether it is in print, or an uploaded youtube video. Even in 201 is difficult to hear exactly what is being said ( truthfully I wouldn't know half to songs I do now if it weren't for those two FCE games). While I agree chants, songs should be spur of the moment and timing appropriate, I am completely for getting down right militant in my support.

One of the things I want to do over the offseason is develop an app that contains song lyrics. Then people can download it whenever they want. I think we're getting better at coordinating our group with the ultras near the stairs it just takes some effort.

I completely understand that your plate has been full, what with a massive expansion in one year and all.

Apparently international roster spots will drop from 7 to 2 for next season. I'm not really a fan of that. I think international players make the league more interesting.

If that is true, and it's players over 27, that means Malonga and Minatel would be on the docket. But since they are allowed 2, they can stay.

Either way, extremely stupid if true. Foreign players make the league stronger and push the Canadian talent. Most of us expect this league to keep nipping at MLS’s heels as a top level professional league, not settle into a role as a youth development league for the CSA.
Only way I’m good with this is if they also add 2 designated players, 1 Canadian, 1 foreign, with both being exempt from salary and age limits.

Cavalry's success stems from Foothills' band of brothers
https://calgarysun.com/sports/soccer...nd-of-brothers
Quote:
Rewind the clock more than two years, when Pasquotti — like others with Foothills FC — came to a crossroad. Armed with engineering and business education from the post-secondary schools in his hometown of Lethbridge, he needed to decide if pro soccer was his future.
“At some point, you’ve got to make that life decision,” said Pasquotti, who was in a co-op internship with a full-time job. “This was before the rumblings of the Canadian Premier League, and at that time, it was very easy in Canada to see that there really wasn’t a road to become a pro.
“But now it’s evident and it’s possible.”

Worth a read for sure.
