Elon Musk’s cost cutting at Twitter reaches the next level after layoffs and stiffing landlords. Now he wants to dump pricey software used by his employees

The latest on the chopping block is pricey software from Salesforce that Twitter employees use for tracking issues involving users and with the service itself, according to a screenshot of a Slack message viewed by Fortune. Twitter had planned to jettison the software, and the monthly payments that come with it, at the end of 2022, but amid employee pushback, the company delayed the plan by six months, according to a source at Twitter.

The source added the company has “shed a ton of licenses in the last two weeks”—the industry term for software—and employees had to justify to management why they should keep certain licenses.

In general I hate it when companies refuse to listen to reason when it comes to licensing costs for software.

The deciding factor should be value not cost. A site license for some software might cost $50,000 but if it saves $500,000 in costs for peoples' time then it should be a no brainer.

That said I have no experience with Salesforce outside of some technical stuff so I don't know if it's justified, but there's lots of cheaper or open source issue tracking software out there, I'm skeptical that Salesforce provides enough value to justify the cost if that's all it's being used for. But again if the value can be demonstrated then booting it is the kind of thing that looks good for some spreadsheet somewhere but can result in a net loss in productivity.

Anyone else getting marketing Tweets that actually use your Twitter handle in their message (just yours), make a marketing pitch, then finish off with "respond with UNSUBSCRIBE" to no longer receive these?

I got one from the Twitter account of the new Mario Brothers movie.

Is this normal?

I was getting those for the Northman movie, and I'm almost certain I didn't opt-in by liking a tweet or anything.

Was that Super Mario ad thing for a movie or a plumbing service?

Musk personally trying to boost ad revenue, seems totally scalable.

I hope they thought this out and its like an average of 20 tweets a day.

They lose a bunch of their sports value to a lot of people if the 'insider' guys like Friedman or Woj all of the sudden run out of tweets on trade deadline or draft day.

And why would they pay for the privilege of breaking news on the platform for 20 tweets a day when they probably send 20 tweets a day like 2 or 3 times a year.

I love how the For You tab likes to show you tweets from 18-22 hours ago. So around the afternoon the day after a hockey game for example you'll start seeing your feed update with "2-1 Dube yeah!" like the game is happening again. just lazy and amateur work.

I'm finding Reddit to be a lot more fun these days.. I can pick my subs and stick with that for the most part. However a good portion of reddit links back to a twitter video of some kind. Hopefully that will end soon

There's a sub for tracking his jet because he banned the twitter account that was tracking his jet.

He'll buy Reddit now for 50 billion.

And because he couldn't handle 2nd place, he rigged the game to get him first place.

Become? Where have you been? He called a first responder a pedophile because he didn’t like Musks mini submarine idea to get stranded school children out of a cave.

I was wondering why a bunch of trash was showing up and when I went to block somebody it said they already were blocked and muted. Is this the side effect of the “Lord Elon must be seen” code?
