This team needs to nose dive badly.
Looking at the roster these days is tough. Man it's ugly. Especially since we're already going on year 4 without playoffs. In that time frame you would hope to be on the start of the upswing, but I don't think we're close yet.
Being heavily invested in hockey again during the Olympics was a shock to the system.
Boy do I miss being excited about the Flames in a hockey game.
These are the critical days of building the foundation for the next iteration.
We need some serious talent ASAP.
If they can get any decent value for their vets, do it and move on.

As simple as it sounds I would just trade Kadri for the best value I could get and not worry about a specific position.

Agreed. Get good value in the form of picks/prospects and worry about building through the draft or through draft/prospect capital. Would rather not have the flames be adamant about getting a 24 year old NHL center with top six upside in a Kadri trade if it means they don’t get the trade done this season. The team is drafting really well lately. Get the picks. Make the picks and develop them. Give Zary a full look as a top six NHL center for the rest of the season and see how it goes. It will at least give them a better indication on if he can actually be a center in this league.

I dont see backs as a top six center i guess is the issue. To me he is a good middle six center with above average defensive metric and their isnt much room for improvement but a lot if chance at drop off.
Its not disrespect it’s reality.

While not as exciting as trades, I am also interested to see which players come back from the Olympics and get declared out for the season immedieately. Not players who got injured such as Fiala, but players who played at the Olympics but won't play another NHL game this season.
Friedman has been hinting there is a few, and Marek speculates a likely one is Brad Marchand.

Arent we already doing that?
This team is posied to make a top 5 pick, they're seemingly trading off the last two big vets on the team that makes sense to move.

I wonder if McD is banged up too from the olympics. He seemed to handle the puck like a grenade and had zero power on his shots.

Middle six and top six have three players in common.

Top six indicates a first line fill-in, or first line potential upside. He's not that. He's never been that. He's been a great middle six centre for a dozen years, but he's now a third line centre and a 2nd liner in a pinch or on a really bad team (like the Flames).
In any case, that's fine with me if the Flames roster a bunch of middle six centres until Reschny and hopefully the next drafted/traded for star centre prospect are ready.

Give the GIF's a couple of pages of absolutely outrageous speculation and then layout in words what it means and what is happening. Because nobody can guess the GIF correctly.

Only Pat Verbeek, since it's a Duck.
Then again, Donald Duck never wears pants. I haven't heard that the same is true of Verbeek.

Ducks are an awesome trading partner. They have all of their picks for the next few drafts, and two extra 2nd round picks next year.
McQueen is probably out of the question without adding to what we’re giving up.
Other players of interest are LD Stian Solberg and C Lucas Pettersson.
