Back in my 20's I had this friend who could be a total dick. We're sitting at the lights on Fairmount and Acadia drive. We had been to McDonalds and were headed back to his place to eat and watch some football. Anyway he's hungry and couldn't wait. Takes his Big Mac out of the bag and as he takes it out of the box it starts to fall a part on him. He says..."screw this!" and fires it out the passenger window. The driver beside us had his window down and the Big Mac lands on the front of his shirt and makes a terrible mess. I hear this cursing and swearing coming from the car beside us and my friend yelling go go go! I quickly glance over and said wtf did you do?!?! He tells me and I quickly make a left turn so the other driver can't follow us.
A week later I got my revenge....
We're downtown on a Saturday night and we pull up to a set lights. My friend see's this drunk native woman standing on the sidewalk. He makes some comments about if she would like to go out on a date. Much to his suprise she starts walking towards him. Getting really nervous he tells me it's time go! Instead I put the gear into park. She reaches through the passenger side and gives my friend a hug and some kisses on the cheeks. He's pissed off telling me we really have to go! Of course i'm laughing my arse off. I wait a minute then I decide to put the car in gear. He didn't talk to me for the rest of the summer

Chinook is horrible for their tiny stalls/lanes and their parkade is too short for my truck to get into so if i go their i either end up taking 2 stalls or parking across the street at the home depot.
If me not being willing to risk another 1500$ to fix a scratch on someones car because some mall feels they need to try to squeeze in more spots then actually would fit into a area makes me rude and chaffs your ass then so be it. If everyone made decent sized parking stalls say like costco then no one would have this issue.
Of course i usually park at the back of the lot where there isn't anyone else so the point is rather moot. Too me your parking stall entitlement is rather entertaining.

So, what colour are the truck balls?

As a pedestrian in downtown I must complain about the people that are leaving parking garages and alleys that cross the sidewalk. Stop blocking the whole freaking side walk trying to merge onto the road. I don't stand and block the road waiting for my turn use the cross walk. And especially don't block the whole sidewalk when the road is completely packed with stopped cars and you have no chance at immediately merging.
Last week this women drove out of a parking garage, blocked the whole sidewalk. I had to walk in front of her car on the road to get past while giving her the "thanks a lot, idiot" look. She had no chance at merging onto the road as directly in front of her was the side of a double length bus.

What's with people who are befuddled by traffic circles? I've seen three in the last couple of weeks who turned the opposite way into a traffic circle despite everone laying on the horn. Scary.

As a driver if I stay on the other side of the sidewalk I will never be able to turn onto the road. So, sorry. But walk around my vehicle. It is not my fault (nor yours) that the road is built like that.

Yeah you can. I see cars do it all the time. You can't merge if there are cars in the way and you can't do the same if people are walking in front of you either.

So happy that here in Costa Rica, cars have the right-of-way, not pedestrians. It seems to work alot better because while walking, everyone is sooo aware of the vehicles around them. They just don't blindly walk out in the street like back home in Calgary.
It takes some getting used to, as at first I felt like stopping for everyone who was at a corner. It will be interesting to drive in Calgary again, whenever that will be.

So on a busy street I should wait until there are no people on the sidewalk and I have enough of a space on the street to turn into the lane? With the winter traffic that may never happen in some places. Then I would have people behind me honking to go. Giving me that idiot look that you mentioned.
Am I missing something?

I have no doubt that's hard to merge onto the road. But as a pedestrian I don't really care if you get home 2 minutes earlier when I have to leave a shoveled side walk and walk on an icy sloped curb mess and try not slip and crack my skull open.
Maybe don't block the sidewalk? I don't know. Where I walk if a car pulls out of a parking garage and blocks the sidewalk. I can't walk behind them (I could if it's an alley) there is no room, so I have to walk in front of them on the road. If there is an obvious gap in traffic I will wait for them to merge. But I am not going to stop outside in the cold winter weather while you wait for a gap in your heated vehicle.

just have to rant here:
do not #@@#ing tailgate someone by driving 3 feet behind them... i dont understand why you even tailgate, its not going to make you go faster. If anything slower because you'll end up rear-ending the guy infront of you. If i had to stop suddenly (say a person stepped out infront of me) my car would have the other car in it, he had NO room for error on his part.
when someone tailgates me i go no faster than speed limit, often slower because i dont want to be rear-ended when going fast and need to be more cautious because i know i can't slow down fast.

If somebody is tailgating 3' behind your bumper because you're going under the speed limit, they're doing so because you're going under the speed limit. If this is happening to you a lot, you probably need to pick up the pace.
