If the average is £9M, Leeds has to be about £1.50. Ken Bates has the purse strings pulled tight, and can't even spend the money to sort out the shambles that is our defense.
3-0 to Swansea and lost leads in the prior two matches. It's amazing to think we can't keep more clean sheets with the best Keeper in the division playing for us.

It's over half a million a month before any other costs are added. Argyle had one of the worst attendances in the league. Leicester and to a lesser extend Reading attract big crowds. Watford still have a fair chunk of Premiership cash to live off.
It was always going to end in tears.
In the season that Plymouth were relegated, Blackpool were promoted with a wage bill about 1mil less than Plymouth's.

That was a gaffe by the CB for not just leaving it for the keeper.
What an epic fail.

Hmm, I wouldn't put that solely on the keeper. I thought Koscielny was just as responsible. He was caught between clearing, and leaving it to the keeper. Had he committed to either, we may have had a different result.
Edit: What Pagal said...

A hilariously epic way to throw away the game in a cup final.
A very Arsenal way to lose.

Wow. What an embarrassment.
Mark Lawrenson said that "a £50 million profit and they can't buy a central defender." How true is that?

Let's say they did exactly that last month, what would the roster look like? We'd have Vermaelen, Koscielny, Djourou, Squillaci, and World Class New Boy. If somehow we'd manage to lose Squillaci, when everyone is healthy we'd have four centrebacks. How could we blood and fully develop our future CB with both Vermaelen and World Class New Boy? Although they have made many mistakes, Koscielny and Djourou have taken some large strides due to the amount of playing time that has been supplied to them.
It's easy for Lawrenson to talk about what we should buy from the grocery when he doesn't have to manage the fridge. Nevertheless, we should have gotten someone better than Squillaci.

Little bit of info....
I am slowly becoming a Leyton Orient supporter because this is the way I would run a football club! Coolest Owner/Chairman ever.
Quote:
Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn cannot wait for his club's FA Cup replay against Arsenal on Wednesday, but admits he is praying for penalties.
"Listen, why don't we go straight to penalties? We'll have more chance that way. Our annual wages budget is £1.7 million. There isn't one Arsenal player who doesn't earn that himself.
"But the boys are on fire. We've had one loss in 22 games and suddenly we're talking about the play-offs. Every year I promise I'll take them to Vegas if we make the playoffs.
"I then said: 'Beat Arsenal and we'll go to Vegas anyway.' My goalie, Jamie Jones, is a Scouser, and they're quick off the mark. Jamie said: 'What about a draw?' I said: 'Jamie, get me the draw and we'll go to Vegas.'"
Hearn revealed that Virgin have since offered to pay for the players' flights, and while in the States they will be staying at Planet Holywood.
Robert Earl, owner of the successful chain and also a major shareholder in Everton, invited Orient's players to stay at his hotel and casino after their performance against Arsenal captured his imagination and the team will be wearing Planet Hollywood Vegas shirts in their warm-up at the Emirates.
Orient's FA Cup run will ensure they are one of the only football clubs in England turning a profit...
"So I'm going to be running the most profitable club in the Football League this year. That's not saying a lot because all 72 clubs in the Football League lost money last year. The industry is fundamentally flawed.

Thats awesome. Win the game and we're all going to Vegas! Thats great.

Barry Hearn is like the modern day Don King. All the darts you see on tv, that's his doing. Premier League Darts, Premier League snooker, World 9-ball. Even Premier League Bowls! That's all him.

Last desperate attempt to avoid relegation. Winless in 12 now I think.
What a freefall, they were a playoff team last season. This is what happens when you're the nemesis of CP!

And now for something completely different:
Quote:
A football club in England's third tier is offering fans the chance to pay £15,000 for a season ticket - making the seats the most expensive in the country.
Peterborough United supporters willing to fork out the cash get a padded seat in the directors' box, a three-course carvery before each game and the title of Honorary Director.
"The chairman is full of bright ideas. I think this is doomed to fail to be honest, but he has a go. You can't knock him," he said, laughing.
"I did have a word with him when he came up with this, and I said: 'I think you have to make it more attractive and say if we are doing well we ask the gaffer to put them on the pitch for five minutes as (a) substitute!'"
The chief executive says it is all a bit fun aimed at offering the wealthiest supporters something different while boosting the club's coffers.
The question is whether anyone will actually pay £15,000.
"If I had the money and could afford it, I would probably do it," said one man in the city.
But there were those who disagreed.
One shop worker was horrified.
"It's disgusting if people have that sort of money to waste," he said.
The club is also offering 75-year season tickets for a one-off payment of £12,000.
