Don't like it or you just want something different? You don't hear too many Acura owners complaining about their cars.

I believe they base some out of Olds/Didsbury airport.
YYC is Calgary International.

I'm thinking they are probably more for protecting crops as opposed to urban centres.

I actually love the car, just scared it will never be the same or i'll notice a visable difference with the car when I get it back.

On a side note, i'm sure happy I spent 500 bucks last week to replace my windshield, only to have it smashed back out again a week later!

You can't match siding after 2 years. You are going to get your whole house wrapped with new siding. you win! Hopefully you have shingle damage also and can get the roof at the same time

Right, which is why I am surprised some prop planes used to seed clouds would be there. You would think Springbank would have much lower landing fees and be able to get to weather quicker.

I would doubt it, 100 acres of insurable cars and homes seem alot more valuable than 100 acres of farmland at 7$/bushel/30bushel/acre.
If it was for farmland then you would see them in central Alberta where the yields are much higher.
To protect cars would be the logical reason to base them in Calgary since the province does everything it can to lower the insurance rates for Alberta drivers.

Since most of these storms are coming from the west staging out of Springbank could be a disadvantage. As any aircraft departing from there would need to climb to altitude to start seeding, whereas a plane leaving YYC can start climbing on the way to the cloud, instead of the cloud almost being on top of them already at YBW.
I'm sure they must have considered staging out of Springbank instead of YYC, but there must have been many good reasons to end up at the international.

If the hail punched holes in the siding, there almost has to be shingle damage.

And I also understand part of the motivation for the program is prevention of crop damage. Although not as costly in claims per acre, hail damage to crops is more likely than to urban centers. Insurers like to cut costs everywhere, not just in the city.
What kind of planes are they using these days? I heard hailstop one going out yesterday just when I was departing, but I didn't actually see what type it was.

Preventing crop damage is a major motivation for the seeding. The area that Weather Mod covers is from High River in the south, north to Red Deer and then west a bit to RMH. The shape of the area they cover sort of looks like Alberta. And I believe most of the planes are kept in Didsbury/Olds.

I can't remember which ones they use in Alberta but here is a list of the planes they own:

My wife had to go to DT around 2 pm yesterday in her 2 year old leased Passat. She said the hail started when she was driving by Lone Star dealership. The bus in front of her stopped under a tree and she had to stop behind the bus open to the hail. It lasted around three minutes, seemingly all parts of the car are dented. If I had to guess there is about 150 dents on the car. It took her about 30 minutes to talk to the agent, the said the appraiser would contact us within the next couple of weeks. Also I am really curious what kind of damage some of those dealerships sustained?

I am curious if people with the experience may know - the windshield is not covered under normal conditions, but is it covered if it is damaged by hail or any other accident?

If you have limited glass coverage, it most likely includes no coverage for hail damage. Hail and rock chips are the two reasons why limited glass coverage is offered in Alberta
