I couldn't find one site that had all so it was kind of a pain and time consuming.

I don't ever recall stating that everyone in Seattle questions whether we have the internet in Canada. You wouldn't find one Canadian doubting whether the US has the internet, Blackberries or telephones. Nor would they doubt that people in Argentina have the internet.
I can clearly see you like to generalize my post, because I never stated the US didn't have ethnic diversity. I simply stated they are clueless as to the ethnic makeup of their northern neighbours. They have no idea of the cultural mosaic we live in here in Canada.
And MacLeans is a Canadian magazine, how is a Canadian magazine article on Canadian companies going to inform people in the US? It don't exactly get the distribution TIME does.
And lastly, a handheld device can be a national icon, just like Wayne, the maple leaf, the mounties (for better or worse lately) and beer. How is that different from applie pie and badly made cars no one wants to buy in the US?
You do realize those ^^^ were pointing to your own post, right? So you must be talking about yourself not knowing how to quote. My quote was one solid, continuous quote, no error on my part.

Yes, you are right. I was referring to myself now knowing how to quote. I'll see if I can figure it out now, as I tear apart your argument

I guess there's no point arguing with you over which TV station is better. I'll tell you what. You can have your CBC; You can watch it 24 hours a day, for all I care. Just don't make me pay for it!

Now you're implying that Americans don't know whether or not Argentineans have the internet.

I wasn't trying to inform Americans. I was simply mentioning to you that I read a MacLean's article stating Cirque has a rather shady past.

What's wrong with apple pie? Or is this showing your great Canadian propensity to not stereotype or be ignorant?
As for national icons, if you were representative of all Canadians, our only national icon/identity would be to bash Americans.

Washington banned handguns, and IIRC, it did nothing to stop gun crime.

You make it sound like Washington is like Texas
By ban I mean strict laws, when the law was in place before 2008 there was no minimum sentence for being caught with one
Fact is Washington kept the most important part intact....city laws still prohibit carrying guns, both openly and consealed. The reason gun crime in Washington is high and always has been is because they don't lock em up when caught, give them 10-15 years like NY and see what happens.
Stats don't lie, no matter how you try to spin it...handguns kill in the hands of citizens and criminals.
I always remember what my brother-in-law(whos a cop) says:

Every time anyone says to me something about "I use my handgun for shooting targets, it has nothing to do with anything else", I ask them what kind of a gun it is?
If it's not a gun designed for target shooting, I call BS.
Sports pistols don't look that much like the stuff you see in movies. In other words, they don't look as cool, and don't come with the same status value. But they are very good for shooting targets.
People buy handguns mostly because handguns are "cool".
I'm all for the idea that all guns should by law be painted in bright colours, preferably with rainbows, unicorns and flowers. That would propably cut down gun ownership radically.

In Canada, you can only own a hangun for the purpose of target shooting. You must be a member of a shooting range. There are very strict ownership/safety/travel laws in place for handgun users. You don't know what you are talking about.........

That has absolutely nothing to do with my point. (Besides, it's pretty much the same as in Finland, who btw has one of the higher numbers of privately owned firearms per capita.)
If people actually bought handguns only for sports (target shooting), they'd buy guns designed for that purpose. But because those guns are not as cool, they rather buy the cooler and more "fun" guns, even though they are actually worse suited for their claimed purpose. I'm not claiming it's anything but very rare for people to use their oversized guns for anything other than target practice, but really, there's no reason why a person should be licensed to buy anything other than a sports pistol (.22 LR, with a maximum clip of five rounds, for example) for the purpose of target practice.
There are a lot of perfectly valid reasons to buy guns. For example, we do a lot of hunting in Finland, and actually some of it is required for general safety. (The number of moose shot reduces the number of moose related traffic deaths, for example.) Target shooting is a perfectly valid hobby, nothing wrong with that.
However, just like when someone goes squirrel hunting with a semi-auto rifle, I call BS when someone goes target shooting with something that's not even close to a sports pistols, and I call BS when target shooting is used as an excuse for people to own all sorts of guns which are completely unnecessary for the claimed purpose of target shooting.
Sports are sports, excuses for banging away with big guns are quite a different thing.

I don't get where you are coming from Itse...
I like to go target shooting, ...but that is not exclusively what I use my shotgun for. I like to blast gophers and misc. objects out where our farm is in the middle of knowhere......it is fun. I did not by my shotgun because of how "cool" it looks, but because of its' versatility and the fun factor.
I dont see how everyone owning a target pistol is going to help any. You can still die if an accident were to occur even if it is just a .22 like you suggest.....

You have now. I have shot deer with one, back when the semi-automatic Chinese versions were unrestricted and no different than any other rifle (until the early '90's, I think it was). Ballistically, 7.62x39 is pretty equivalent to .30-30 - the most popular deer cartridge of all time. Either are a crap deer rifle, except at close range. And no, I don't think using one is necessary, and I have no problem with not being allowed to use it.
