Ok i won't be able to make it tonight.
I would like to be on the team, and would like to call a spot if we do a men's only. I play anything except pitcher, but I prefer infield anywhere or 1/3rd if I have to pick more.
I am good for a jersey as long as it's less than 100 bucks, and I would prefer the best we can get for the cheapest, obviously. I want number 23 unless someone who is on the team has 23 in their username.
I also vote south part of town although I am willing to play anywhere. I can do any day of the week as it stands right now, but I guess I prefer Sundays like most.
As I say, I just can't be in charge right now but as soon as I can I will be if Aeneas needs a break. So Aeneas- check your PMs buddy.

Looks like I got here just in time to see a calgary pp. I skimmed the posts and yes, I can guarantee that I'll join the team and pay my share (pretty much regardless of the night, though I can't guarantee my attendance on a weeknight (including saturday)). I have 4 girls that claim to want to play, but I'll really only promise one. And the bat.

Dibbs on 00
And as for price and quality of these 'jersies', I vote for sleeveless tshirts with silkscreened numbers on the back. They'll be cheap and... cheap. Because anyone that has played a league before knows that half the team wont show up next year, so the jersey changes as does the team.

I am suprised Rhettzky, Locke and Resolute are not on here before me, bad kids. I knew I would beat Troutman, Flameskickass, and Flamesinyoureyes cause I think they are closing the place. Little drunk but will try to parlay what occured.
Tried for a moment of silence for #18 of the Spitfires; too loud, settled for a sip of a drink nod the head and a muttered "damn."
In attendance we had Aeneas, Resolute 14, Rhettzky, Locke, Troutman, Flameskickass, and Flamesinyoureyes.
We waited for the intermission then had a look at some info.
Our feeble decisions (knowing that we were but part of a larger group)
PLEASE SEE PREVIOUS POSTS FOR LIST OF DISCUSSION ITEMS
1) We should pick a league that is central as possible.
2) Sunday night suited us best.
3) Tanguay should be traded...just kidding
4) How about a league that plays at Pop Davies in Ogden, fairly central, try Riverbend Station for sponsorship.
5) The Schooner is a better deal
6) Jerseys: go for a relatively cheap one, and maybe Troutman's firm will pick up some/all of the costs.
Now that last item sent us down a dark path, where we started with the team name, "Shysters" and went downhill very fast.
The fact a law office would sponsor us, led to uniforms of orange jumpsuits and terrible team names like "Unregistered Sex Offenders"
Sorry we were drinking.
If you are offended by drinkin guy humour please read no further.....
Our names we wanted on our jerseys for the aforemnetioned team name were:
Rhettzky: Candyman
Locke: Subpoena
Aeneas: Restraining Order
Resolute: Huselius
Flamesinyoureyes: I D Please
Flameskickass: Follow you home
Troutman: Dahmer
There were some other names chosen for people not in attendance but those will have to be PM's.
Other name ideas that came up...
The Belligerent Drunks
Heterosexual Males
E Thugs N Harmony
Keyboard Cowboys
Mother Puckers
Bass Assassins
The Canuck Haters
The Merry Men
2001..A space Odyssey
The One Night Stands
Put Them In The Win Column
Hookers And Blow
Calgary Puckers
The Whiffers
The Yeah Baby's
The Win Column
The Quite Honests
The Ambulance Chasers

Then we went for team names/themes:
Team American Gladiator
All players must wear spandex
(I mentioned that alcohol was being served right?)
Troutman: Wolf
FKA: Lazer
Rhettzky: Tazer
Locke: Non-Lethal
Aeneas: Powerball Crush
Resolute: Hawk
We had Team Beer with beer names on the back, Team Assassins with names like Boutros Boutros Ghali and Wilkes Booth on the back, Team Hot Actresses with individual names like Zeta Jones, Berry, Fox, Cuthbert, and Rohm.
Then we thought of the Belligerent Drunks name combned with the Lawyer sponsored team. One player each game would have to be wheeled onto the diamonds in a straight jacket with a Hannibal Lector mask on. Catcher would just wear rubber gloves and get inappropriately close to the batters. It went on and on, down and down. Very funny for us, we were drinking and in the moment. All good guys, I think we'll ahve alot of fun on the diamonds.
Seriously, next step is to solidify the ladies, then pick and pay for a league. Must move fast as leagues are filling.Any other suggestions on "beer" leagues out there are wlecome, not many traditionally advertising.

Solidify?
You forgot Team Philosopher (uniform - togas):
Socrates, Marx, Plato, Locke, etc.
The Philosopher's Song (Monty Python)
Immanuel Kant was a real pissant
Who was very rarely stable.
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
Who could think you under the table.
David Hume could out-consume
Wilhelm Freidrich Hegel,
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel.
There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya'
'Bout the raising of the wrist.
SOCRATES, HIMSELF, WAS PERMANENTLY PISSED...
John Stuart Mill, of his own free will,
On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill.
Plato, they say, could stick it away;
Half a crate of whiskey every day.
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle,
Hobbes was fond of his dram,
And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart: "I drink, therefore I am"
Yes, Socrates, himself, is particularly missed;
A lovely little thinker but a bugger when he's pissed!

Firm up the positions?
Get some ladies?
Hmmm, can't seem to win. We need to contact possible female players and ensure that they will play.
SORRY FOR THE CAPITALIZATION TROUTMAN
Yes, I left out some team suggestions, there were alot. Also couldn't read one or two of them, I think some people were drinking.

I would be interested in playing!
I don't often post here but I would love to play some ball.
I am open to any night or weekend day, but I do have two jobs so they might get in the way sometimes.
I used to play, a couple of years ago. I have played catcher, pitcher and 1ST base.
If there are going to be jerseys, I would like either 13 or 22.
PS. I am a FEMALE!

You're hired! Aeneas will want to solidify you.

Anyone on this board can read that list and I guarantee they could pick out which ones were my suggestions.

lol. I think being female is the softballguy equivalent of being a left handed pitcher.
We'll need a couple more, otherwise we'll have to fit Locke with a wig and some...err... padding.

A dress might fit the profile if we go as the Unregistered Sex Offenders.
