I guess what I’m seeing is a breakdown happens when all of a sudden a high speed incredible unexpected individual effort happens, but when everyone is trying that every time, it’s not a 3 v 3 ot like Marner, its turning into a 5 v 1.5 but against the best players who are playing a trap.
Ok I agree with this; you can't just keep doing it. That's definitely the case. But where one of the top offensive players on the team sees an opening, they should. That's not every shift but it's a few times a period. When a team is playing the trap they want everything to go predictably; you have to throw them a few curveballs and "OH #### OH #### MACKINNON IS SKATING 25 MILES AN HOUR THROUGH THE NEUTRAL ZONE" is a good curveball.

One goal game going into the 3rd period. Just have to have a few players step up. Finland really had nothing going on that period save for the shorthanded breakdown.

Been a while since i’ve seen Canada down in back to back games. Maybe we’ve just been spoiled rotten but a good reminder to how insane that 2014 team was.
Truly this is a team they should be dominating. I’m surprised they’re not being as effective at getting shots on. McDavid being the sole exception of creating things.
Imagine how many guys you'd trade for this dude right now...

There's absolutely no way that 2-1 goal lead can survive the 3rd period. If Finland gets another goal, they have a chance, but even that I think won't be enough. I predict another one-sided period with Canada getting 10+ shots on net.
As mentioned earlier the key is probably going to be getting point shots through and on goal. Getting a tic-tac-toe one timer isn't something you can count on, but a half dozen Shea Theodore wristers through traffic? Sure, those will be available.

But it’s hard to win relying on a second rated goalie
Maybe expecting too much for a mediocre goalie to steal the game for you every time
This is a very poor analysis of why they are losing this game, I must say.
Binnington is not the issue in this game. Canada has not tested Saros at all. Bennett was an issue off the top, and the inability of Canada to bust through a collapsing defence is the other.

This is a much deeper team Finland than previous tournaments, makes a big difference.

Maybe someone else could shoot it instead? perhaps...
