Canada should progress. 4 points will get it done and they should be able to do that.

It’ll be 28 years since Scotland last qualified and we get the same two teams again (Brazil and Morocco).

Is Switzerland not that good anymore? Because Switzerland/Italy seems rough to my brain stuck in the past.

I also hope they lose now. We could have gotten New Zealand or Cabo Verde and had a game where we would be heavily favoured to win.
I expect it'll be Wales. Italy would have to win in Wales to advance, assuming they even get past Northern Ireland.

Come on now, Italy is a huge favourite in both matchups

17th/12th in the rankings (Canada 27)

Not the worst but not "they should advance" either

Honestly I don't think Italy is a huge favourite on the road against Wales.

Italy should be huge favorites, but they also shouldn't be in the playoff yet here they are. Shouldn't have lost to North Macedonia last time, shouldn't have lost to Sweden in 2018 etc...Italy either comes into these things in great form and goes on a run, or they miss out. And their form has been not good of late, so...

12th ranked team against 32nd ranked team

the rankings aren't perfect but they will be huge favourites on every betting site. It's certainly possible in one game.

Canada is slightly underrated I would say. Given that they've been missing Davies.

FIFA rankings are effectively irrelevant. Belgium has been in the top 10 for the past few years and they really aren't that good. Switzerland are a decent team, a bit older and more savvy and all that, but Canada at home should be able to get a point. Same with whoever comes out of the playoff. But with this format they should strive to crush Qatar like 8 or 9-0 and that alone might be enough to progress.

SHOULD is a pretty bold statement...if Italy is in the group Canada will be third in odds to come out. They certainly can if they play well but it will be a major challenge.

I hope they do obviously

This is not your father's or grandfather's Italy though. They were not impressive in qualifying which is why they ended up in the qualification play-off. Sure, they can still advance, but recent history is not on their side.

I'm well aware...they are still the favourites to Whales. Any odds site will tell you.
