Mixed bag. Showed a lot of confidence offensively including on the PP
But at times got himself into a bit of trouble.

Steinberg was saying that when Parekh tried to play the puck and stood the line in the first leading to the Oilers odd man rush and Parekh losing his stick, someone from the Flames brass was yelling "No! no! no!"

But there was a time in the second when the Flames were sustaining offensive pressure, it looked like Parekh was about to take over the game.

I wish they'd tell him to just play a simple game until he's settled in and then slowly ramp up the flash. He's trying to do too much off the hop.

During the game, Wills talked about how Huska plans on using Parekh and Andersson on the point on the top PP unit, so I think he'd have to crap the bed pretty hard in the preseason to not make the team.

Also, it doesn't sound like they're going to be able to amend the CHL agreement to allow Parekh (and others in the same boat) to play in the AHL this season, so I doubt they'll send him back to junior unless he's really struggling to start the season.

It is really unfortunate that they can't put him in the AHL, when it looks like the rule is getting changed next season.

Answered my own question. I'd hate to see Parekh lose a spot because of the waivers game.
Every team has tweeners on D, so I'm not too worried about waivers. If Parekh makes the team and the Flames carry 8 D-men, keep the best of Cicek, Kuznetsov, Solovyov, or Miromanov — recognizing it might make most sense to keep one of the left D.

Also, Parekh can go down to the AHL until trades are done, no big issue. It happens all the time.

I don't think so. He's too young.

Saw some exciting things from Parekh such as the confidence he has when his brain clicks to offense. Really unique for a kid to have at this age. Also saw some really bad plays defensively by him which isn't unique for a prospect defenceman. He'll get those things out of his game in time by working with the coaches. He was never realistically going to step in this season and play top 4 minutes and people saying they could see this or that he'd be able to backfill Andersson's absence by pointing to his +/- were just setting themselves up for disappointment. Parekh on the line is beautiful to watch...

He made a great up ice pass early on (right after the first goal) that showed great vision and passing ability.

Can he be sent to the OHL (too young for AHL) and still be recalled back to the Flames, similar to an AHL callup scenario? I forgot about the age thing, that is still an issue for this year.

No. If he's sent down, he has to stay in junior until his team's season is done.

Nope, if he is returned to OHL, he is there for the season

Its only 1 game, my guess he definitely starts the season with the Flames.

I think Parekh will be just fine. He's going to make those types of mistakes starting out and that's okay.

He seems like a quick learner and his own harshest critic so I'm not worried about him drowning or not figuring it out in the NHL. We just need to be patient with him (which the staff seems to understand) and he will figure it out quicker than we think.

Also that play where he walked the line, then head faked an Oilers D giving himself a clear lane to the side of the net where he dangled a bit and then fed a nice pass over to someone I can't remember for a shot on goal from the slot.

Parekh is the least of our worries. He’s going to be just fine.

ZP was one of the Flames best players at the dome...he is 100% on the team. He had the puck a ton and lost it like twice (then got back quickly)

Is there anyway to watch either of these streams now that the games are over?
