Yes, but the weren’t trying as hard as they normally would for a goal today.

They would've been much more comfortable going in with a 3-0 finish against Peru, who then wouldn't have gone through even if they beat Argentina.

Sure they had an element of playing for a tie, especially after the Arg goal, but until then, a bad bounce in their game and they could be out. But again, generally against 10 men they should look a lot more dominant in possession and chances considering it was in 29th. One less player makes a huge difference.

Watched Venezuela and they took it to Mexico a few days ago, a lot more quick, active, and skilled.

Our performances didn’t exactly light the world on fire, but you have to be thrilled with getting out of the group! Any time you can keep clean sheets you give yourself a fighting chance.

On to the big tests now, we’ll see how we do when playing against 11 men and when we actually need to play for a win.

I look forward to their future goals, not enough to celebrate in the first 3 games. But knock out games are different of course.

I haven’t seen a second of the last two matches with the birth of my son (Cavalry’s newest fan!) but I wanted to say I’m absolutely thrilled they made the knockout round, blew my expectations and hopes out of the water!

What a great week

Venezuela up 2-0, will definitely meet Canada on Friday

Mexico need a win in the other game against Ecuador.

Venezuela is playing positive football and looking to score goals. Canada will have it hands full.

Mexicans out to the chagrin of organizers, doubly so if the US goes out too tomorrow.

Correct no penalty call there, but yikes, the defender just barely had room to get a toe on that.

The attempt very easily could have led to a penalty.

I don’t know…….it would have been a soft penalty for Mexico but I’ve seen them given before!

Panama goes ahead, US needs to win.
Camera angle for the game in Arrowhead looks to be from the blimp.

This is some of the worst refereeing I’ve ever seen.
