The idiocy of US television coverage continues. I can't watch the main broadcast because it's only streaming on Peacock. NBC sux, so I'm streaming it via TSN4

Also, it feels like commentary has gone down hill in the past while, too. Just feels like so many struck shots where I as a fan watching on TV go "wow, pulled it that'll be left sand trap" and the commentator goes through a whole "decent line, should end up left of the hol....oooh in the bunker, I guess it turned".

US Open coverage is definitely the most annoying of all sports coverage. Requiring USA, Peacock and NBC subscriptions and random time switches between all of them who each have their wind exclusively is very obnoxious. They are all owned by NBC Universal, so they are just trying milk subscriber money out of all corners.

Mack Hughes is +8 thru 9 holes this morning....falling 98 spots.

This course is going to eat these guys up this weekend with temps approaching 100F and everything getting drier. The greens are already as fast as any other tournament of the year and only going to get faster.

Projected cut in +2 right now but you have to believe it will be 3 or even 4 by days end.

I know I'm being a bit pedantic, but it is always a pet peeve to me when pgatour.com or espn call it a projected cut, when it is just the current cutline.

USGA was actually giving a real projected cut on their website for the women's US Open this year, but don't have anything on their current scoreboard yet. datagolf.com is good for giving a real projected cut, which is 50/50 for +4 or +5 right now.

I'm taking my son to Sunday's round. It will be a fun day if the leaderboard looks something like it is right now.

It is surprising to see Scottie on the outside looking in.

He seems to have reverted back to putting like the old Scottie. Maybe the clock struck 12 on his magical Spider mallet.

I wonder how much money could have been made betting on Korda and Scottie to miss the US Open cut.

Looks like he'll make it though. 75% chance it goes to +5 or higher now. That would have been an excruciatingly close bet!

+5? There are 82 players right now that are better than that number and 97 at or better than +5. That would be a huge weekend field.

Scoring average is about 3 over par. The afternoon wave is just getting going, so lots of players will fall down the leaderboard.

https://datagolf.com/live-model/pga-tour has pretty solid live projections.

And missing a ton of fairways too, at least yesterday.

This cantlay meltdown is glorious. On and off the green three times on 8.

Now putting 8 feet for double bogey

Pavon and Aberg bailed him though, dropping shots. Cantlay just one back.

Just had a look at the betting
Lowry and Scheffler both at five over.
Scheffler 13/1 odds to finish in top 4
Lowry 500/1

Looks like we might have a classic US open this weekend. A final score under par has a good chance of winning.

Not sure I've ever seen a guy drop an ace to make any cut, let alone a major. Won't ever happen, but imagine he won now?

It is a small group of players under par but it is a great group of players. I'm looking forward to watching the leaders today and tomorrow.
