I forgot that Streveler is back in Winnipeg. Zach is off to a slow start tonight.

This Bombers team reminds me of the Stamps. Had a chance to win multiple cups in a row where they were favourites and then upset in the Finals. Then the decline! Out of playoffs in a few years.

Very early observations...but...WPG CB's are not very good...and Cody freakin Fajardo is playing well.

I thought the Als would win this game but I wasn't expecting this.

I thought it would be a close Bombers win because they rarely lose at home (I think I saw something like 37-3 in their last 40 home games).

Let's hope as Stamps fans that our Philpot can have as good of an opening game as the Als Philpot is having tonight.

Bombers will still make the playoffs and be a factor but they are older and not as talented as past teams. Similar to the Stamps at the end of their decade of dominance although the Stamps cut bait with most veteran players rather than become an old team. Collaros with a really bad game and I expect he will rebound but the West looks like it may be up for grabs this season.

So, after Sergio Castillo missed a couple of field goals last night, he complained about the microchip that the CFL is using inside the pigskin. The league is making these chipped balls optional for the rest of the season (i.e. the teams can decide whether or not to use them at the start of the game).
The CFL is making the use of microchipped footballs optional in the kicking game but denies their presence affects accuracy on field goals.
In a statement on Friday, commissioner Randy Ambrosie said the decision was made out of respect for the concerns raised by the league’s kickers but that the issue could be re-visited next season.
“Effective immediately, teams will no longer be mandated to use microchip-implanted footballs for kicking plays.
However, because some kickers have expressed a desire to continue using them, teams will decide at the beginning of the game whether to use microchip-implanted balls or technology-free balls for the duration of the contest.

I think it's mainly an attempt to get some live stats as part of the partnership agreement that the CFL has with Genius Sports.
