The Wranglers acquired goaltender Garrett Metcalf today on a PTO. He had been playing with the San Diego Gulls of the AHL and Utah of the ECHL.
Probably nothing...
Dansk remains out and the team already called up Chechelev.

Cut the pics in the quote, however, on that play, while Vladar is in the white, he's only just barely. Really to properly challenge the shooter, he should be out nearly a foot more than that. The only reason to be that deep is if you're expecting the pass across.

Yup. If he is out 2 feet, the shooter has nothing. Or at least has to make a perfect shot to score.

I’d be interested to see an example where a goalie is 2 feet out of the blue on a 2-1. Like, any at all. 6 months from now if you find a replay please post it.

It wasn't much of a 2 on 1, as the pass was completely eliminated
And the goalie's job is the shooter

This, There was no pass. So you have to go fully out to challenge the shooter. That goal is entirely on Vladar's positioning.

You're really using both hindsight and slow-mo to make a call like that.
In real time and when a goalie doesn't know how a 2v1 will actually play out, to commit to going high on one side is a massive gamble.

Agreed on positioning. He’s where he should be for depth though.

Another point wasted due to poor goaltending. The Whitecloud goal was horrendous.

Even the OT goal was awful
But the team is giving Lewis and Lucic a regular shift, they’re tanking.

Like seriously, the Flames had everything under control until that goal. Just frustrating to see this team give away a chance at the playoffs because of a fixable problem.

Curtis Joseph was 5 ft 11. Top-10 in wins.
Chris Osgood won 2 rings as a starter and went to the finals a third time, and he’s top-15 all time in wins. He has more wins than Hasek.
Enough of this notion that a 6 foot tall goalie can’t dominate the NHL. It’s completely made up.
.930 is .930. .930 solves all your problems. This team has allowed the 2nd fewest shots in the league and they’re 15th in goals against.
It’s the #### goaltending. Watch Huberdeau get light years better when he’s not waiting for the guy in net to blow the game.

You cant trust either guy on the parent club right now
They're actively losing the team points that were in hand
GM and coach need to give this serious thought, or some other solution (deadline?)

Spending assets for a guy whose only definable improvement over Wolf is height would be so disrespectful.
.928 goaltending is in the building.
Use it.

The OT goal was awful on whom?
The initial shot wasn’t a goal
Pietrangelo was first to a puck that bounced off the iron and landed in the crease behind the goalie
Interested in the details around ‘awful’

On the Lewis line…
They are PP3 of late. No going back to PP1 with time left

Vladar played goal just like Markstrom. Markstrom hasn't been accused of missing the "easy saves". He's been accused of not making the "big saves". Or enough of them anyway anyway.

Markstrom missed many easy saves. Goals three and four against the Flyers were putrid. They both suck.

Where is the Flames' real life Mike Ehrmantraut to plant cocaine in Markstrom's gym bag so we can whittle out of that contract and get Wolfie up here. Or literally any one else.

In this era it's a death sentence for a low scoring team to have both of their goaltenders with SV% below .900. That's just not going to get it done and I would hope the organization does a thorough review of their goaltenders and goaltender coaches as this just isn't acceptable.
