How are you moving Huberdeau exactly? He's been exposed as an extremely flawed player, who is likely not going to get any better with age, on a terrible contract.

Get used to him because he's not going anywhere unless the Flame retain 50% of that deal for the next decade and package him up with high picks.

I’d bet the Habs would take him for Anderson and Gallagher

They could probably do it if they played Vladar AND Markstrom in net at the same time and declined all power plays.

^^ Nope, but I'm betting Sutter would love it.

It’d be a rebuild move. Trade everyone who you can find a taker for and get good value for Lindholm etc

If teams are giving up this much, now is the time to sell. They Flames don't have a lot of youth in the organization, and this is a good draft.

Selling will be done in the off-season if it happens. No one with term has moved yet.

You’re kind of saying two different things here, though. “No one player or position is causing the problem/something is horribly off with this group” vs. “A timely goal just as much as a timely save would turn so many of these games around.” The latter seems more accurate to me, because I think it’s hard to deny that the vast majority of our issues stem from the issues Huberdeau and Markstrom are going through.

Replacing Huberdeau with someone that produces like a 1st line scorer or replacing Markstrom with someone that plays like a league-average starter would be monumentally different for this team. It’s not far off. A lot of guys are playing well. We’re a few points out. We’re losing 1 goal games on the back of blowing easy scoring opportunities and letting in soft ones. There isn’t something horribly off with the group, it’s two players.
I think more than this?

Huberdeau
Mangiapane
Markstrom
Lindholm is on a similar track points-wise, but down from a 42-goal season to a 24-goal pace.

And then, obviously, no Kylington impacts things on the back end pretty significantly.
