Wow. The lack of self-awareness from Jake in this interview is astounding. Most players can regurgitate spoon-fed lines to sway public opinion, but he didn't even do that. He didn't have one ounce of anything to say about the victim, and the damage he may or may not have caused. All of that interview was about him and how hard it was for him. What a joke.

If I were an Oiler fan listening to this drivel, I sure as hell wouldn't find anything he had to say endearing. I know E=NG is the universal truth here, but in a way, I feel bad for them. At least he and E. Kane will get along nicely.

I saw someone else mention this, but someone needs to photoshop a new oilers jersey in solid orange that looks like a convict outfit. Very fitting for that organization of slimeballs.

Oof...just watching that interview tells me everything I need to know about Virtanen.

By that I mean, he doesn't have two brain cells to rub together to even make a spark of a thought. WOW.

There's just no there there, you know? Nothing behind those glassy eyes.

You add in all the other baggage and I'm super happy that the Flames didn't add him even on a PTO.

Oilers just keep adding to their collection of scuz bag players!! Yet if he scores 1 goal for that abomination of a team the fans will just sing his praises and forget all about his past. The bad karma that that joke of an organization has must be off the scale.

His agent must have said to not acknowledge other than say he learned a lot. Pretty weak performance and Coiler PR appears less than useless. Kind of unreal actually what we just witnessed after everything going on.

I get the feeling that the Virtanen move has resulted in a massive fan backlash the Oilers organization weren't fully expecting. To save face, they cut him and swoop in with a Milano contract and look like heroes.

Oilers fans are upset now, but watch him get a goal his first pre season game and they'll all be wanting to put him with McDavid

So, Kane and now Virtanen. Maybe they should try to reinstate Slava Voynov, and while they're at it, I'm sure Graham James is still looking for a job.

The Oilers are so desperate to not squander the McDavid era that they are willing to sign players that no one else will touch. They are in cap hell and have to go bargain bin hunting - the Kane signing, now Virtanen - make no mistake, these are the moves an organization in complete panic mode. The potential embarrassment of wasting one of the greatest talents to ever play the game is starting to become apparent, and they are grasping for anything to save them. But...

No one can save the Oilers.

Not Virtanen. Not Kane.

No one.

For real though, how many PTO's are getting full pressers? Seems like he's all but got a deal pending a money move, otherwise they wouldn't be trying to get their water carriers working so hard to make it look like a good move. And seriously, how do you even sell this? At least with Kane there was going to be obvious on ice success. Virtanen has a rep of being out of shape and every stat so far has pointed to him being ineffective on the ice. Why are they so intent on making themselves worse? Oh wait, that one has an easy answer: E=NG

It's a match, all right. But I think it's pretty clear that Heaven was not involved.

This is going to end in amazing fashion for the Oilers the moment they face the slightest adversity this season.

The Oilers "organization" is absolutely gross and vile. There's no other words.

The word I think best describes the Oilers and their fans is "smug".
Always smug.
Which is remarkable given how no good they are.

This isn't even a hockey signing. It was Ken Holland's initiation to get invited to poker night with Mike Babcock, Bill Peters, and Graham James. They force Evander Kane to dress like Betty Boop and serve them drinks.
