Tkachuk will do very well on a line with Barkov, who is Lindy only probably better. I suspect they figure they can afford not to have Huberdeau with Lundell, Duclair, Tkachuk, Verhaege all LHS LW.

I feel like my opinion of Brad is well known by some on this site. But if Brad signs Huberdeau longterm, he wins this deal just by that signing. Weeger could leave after the year and Brad still wins the deal.

The team is unquestionably worse than last year, older, and in a position to lose both of these players next offseason.
And if you can extend them, Huberdeau will be 30 next June and Weegar is 29 in January. Do you really want long term deals with these players?
What this does it make this team mediocre for the next 3-4 year. Might make the playoffs a couple times, might miss, but never good enough to be a consistent Cup threat.
I'm trying not to be a Debbie Downer but this is the exact opposite of what I wanted to happen. I will say though, I expected worse if the Flames were going to go in this direction.

Didn't expect our blue line to get even better while we're at it.
This is fun.
But again, need these guys signed.

JH is well over ppg the last 4 years. Has missed 3 games in 5 years.
6 more playoff pts than Tkachuk in 1 fewer game.

Weegar is a great piece.
There was debate who was better between him and Ekblad in the 20-21 season, underlying numbers are great.
Get these guys re-signed and it’s huge win IMO

Sign Huberdeau and Weegar long term and it’s a great deal.

Im a caveman so someone help me - 1.5m in space left - where did Johnny's 6.75 AAV savings go to? And Hubes is cheaper than Tkachuk was by a million. Weegs isn't that well paid....
edit: nm that includes your expected Bread and Kylington signings

To win right now it’s impossible to not like this deal. I don’t think we have a win now roster so has me scratching my head a bit. I don’t know enough about the prospect to know if he tips the scales or not.
I’m disappointed in the lack of futures, though. No question.
Honestly…wish I was more excited about this than I am.
