Well damn it. I’m not ready for the season to be over. Oilers were better than I thought hey were and for whatever reason too many Flames did not play well.
The reffing in the NHL generally lacks consistency. That call was awful in excess of the norm. I've been on the verge of not caring about the NHL for a while, in no small part because of the inconsistencies with reffing and how it affects the quality of play. Didn't really watch much of this season as a result. Don't think I'll watch the rest of the playoffs or watch next season. Stuff like Kane being let off the hook and then welcomed back into the league along with these kinds of continued officiating issues just make me dislike the NHL. I do really like Gaudreau, I have enjoyed a handful of games this year, and I'll watch if the Flames are in the playoffs again next year, but I just can't really care about the league's product much anymore.

With Markstrom’s #’S this series it’s a miracle there even was a fifth game. Argue about anything else all you want, you aren’t ever even getting close to winning a series with a goalie putting up numbers like that. Full stop.

You forgot: their officials were dominant, intervening in every possible way to prevent 5 on 5 play, knowing that it is the Flames’ strength, and failing that, managed to overturn a goal without even having a coach’s challenge or sufficient evidence to overrule the call on the ice.

Flames players made way too many passing errors. Didnt move their feet and the forwards didnt backcheck enough. Our blue liners also didnt clear the crease and tie up their forwards. We didnt play our game and had too many passengers. The better team won.
That call came from Toronto--league's way of trying to ensure the Leafs don't lose out in being the next Canadian team to win a cup... No way Oilers get past Avs, but with Markstrom being how he was in the Dallas series and a healthy Tanev, we might have.
