Yikes. This thread is a trainwreck. Should be a 24hr rule before posting for some. I am looking at you BoLevi.
I am not worried. I didn't think it was going to be sweep or that it was going to be easy. Playoff hockey is hard. I have no doubt Sutter will get them going.

Lots of adjustments Sutter can make.
Team desperately needs offense. Give the top line more offensive zone starts and easy matchups. He's been playing them in defensive situations a lot. Use L2 / L3 for that. Coordinate your offensive Dmen to play with the top line. There are player tracking stats that show he is not doing this.

But something should be done, IMO.

I can't tell if this is sarcastic or not but Isn't that exactly what they did this year with STHs and seat availability? They could purchase additional seats and many of those STHs were looking to make money on selling those seats on the secondary markets. How does that make the in game experience at the Dome any better?
Maybe they should just pump in some artificial fan noise.

Somebody said it in here earlier. The boys need to play with swagger. It's part of this team's identity. Guys are worried about too many other things maybe. Clear your heads. Trust your game.

What is the correlation between offensive zone faceoff starts and goal scoring rates, though, for these players?
Sometimes some lines generate more offense in transition. They are not necessarily Jagr/Thornton/Sedins types who thrive on the cycle.

Call me crazy but I thought the Flames played fine and would win most games played like that.
Obviously you need to generate some goals but that will come. Also have a 4th line full of guys who will never score isn't ideal.

I thought Toffoli was one of the better Calgary forwards. Not sure what you were watching.
Had some chances, was physical, got involved ... handled the puck better than he usually has.

I think the issue with that line is that it's comprised of three shooters and no playmakers as Darryl just hasn't found a fit for Toffoli. Backlund had some jump and got pucks to the net that led to juicy rebounds but Toffoli and Mangiapane never seemed to be in opportunistic spots. This line will need to get going if this team is going to go anywhere in the playoffs.

It was talked about during the last game with the conversation concerning Bettman being in the building to watch the game, and his belief that the Saddledome is outdated. The building was six degrees warmer than it's supposed to be for a game. That was for the entire game and led to the delay in the second intermission where they had to deal with the ice. This game was the same. You could see it in skating, and fumbled pucks. Passes were slow and missing there mark.
The Flames will actually be a much more effective team on the road on better ice. Their game is possession, and you can't do that if the game is slowed physically. The Saddledome crew had better figure out the problems for game five.

Not sure if he was meaning that or they need a player on each line to go to the net as all the lines were getting boxed out.

You have to credit Dallas's coaching and team defense for shutting us down, but the massive bright side is that they've been shut down much harder. The Stars have had barely any stretches where they dictated the play, they've just been great at blocking shots, getting in passing lanes, and skating hard in their own zone to win battles.
Adjustments will be made, goals will be scored on both sides, and we shall prevail in the end.

Every forward. There was very little traffic in front of Oettinger in both games.

Ok that was an ugly read.
I think any fan is allowed to be concerned after a loss, the playoffs are an emotional ride with the day between games all fun when you win, and the end of the world when you lose.
So I guess the over reactions you see on here are probably seen in every market.
Personally I just don't get it though.
This isn't last year's Flames, or the year before that, or the team from '19 or '15 or the bubble. I just don't see a point in dragging out ugly history to make yourself feel better or make sure no one else feels better than you.
This is an interesting series now. The Stars have managed to clog things up, and Sutter is going to have to help his players settle down and let the talent play. Glad they have a guy like Sutter on board to make those adjustments.

Honestly I don't think even the Dome foams would have gotten me loud just by themselves, Zadorov says it best, even during playoffs the fans here are there to watch hockey first. Getting drunk and taking in the spectacle becomes a distant 2nd to watching our team play and win when the games matter. So every pass that went into skates or missed altogether, every stupid giveaway, every shot that gets blasted wide feels like a god damn punch to the gut when you are sitting in the stands. Every penalty taken immediately after your team starts to find their legs.
Momentum matters and all of the above are momentum crushers.

Did something break? I can’t imagine it’s the weather. It wasn’t that warm yesterday.
But if it is, what are they gonna do when (if) it’s 25C? It’ll be 15 degrees warmer than it’s supposed to be?

The concerning piece in this series is that through two games the Flames have not scored at even strength, and are only 1/8 on the PP - all while on home ice.
I’m not conflating that with years prior, but the complete lack of offensive production is a problem. Settling for perimeter play is not going to win these games.
Dallas is the worst team in the playoffs, and through two games we’ve played right into their hands. Dallas is more than happy to let us fire pucks at the net from the point and the boards with how pathetic our net front presence has been. The Flames need to begin dictating the play, not comfortably playing into what Dallas wants.
Hopefully Sutter can get the guys playing the right way tomorrow, because through two games? Nowhere near good enough.

Not fine. Not even close to generating enough goals or chance. If the flames were getting 40+ shots, then maybe you could say that. Defense and goaltending has been great though

That really was a terrible first period by the Flames. Not the way you want to come out in a playoff game but we should give the Stars some credit as they played a perfect road game.
