Winningest game of the year! What a performance, to hang around with the best team in the league (IMO) and come up clutch in OT.
Could have gone either way, and that's all I asked of the Flames in this game; to hang around and show they belong.
Flames got lucky at the end that the 2 on 1 missed, as that could have been the game. But the hockey gods and Vladar were with the team tonight. Wicked shot by Johnny to win it!

The Avs PBP team are 100% my favorite homer announcers. Some gold from them over the years. If these teams ever meet in the playoffs and the Flames win any games, it's going to be hilariously salty.
Best wishes to you and your fam bro. Totally get how you feel and wish them all the best.

Statement game. Loved that MacKinnon was having a conversation with Gaudreau before OT started, and then was victimized on the winner. Now come home and beat the crap out of the Oilers.

I would feel extremely confident about that. Especially if they can also pick up a depth defenseman.
Look, I understand that some people are scared for the playoffs and the teams history and all.
Be confident with the current roster. We have been winning convincingly all season with the current set of players against the you teams in the league. adding new players into the roles of existing players moved through trade and expecting huge net positives is folly. These players have bought into the Sutter system, no guarantee a new player can or will.
It just isn't helpful to have everyone come on the forums post another great team win and #### on Monahan because they think better players will exist. Monahan is playing the role Sutter has given him, and lately he's been doing a good job of it.

hmm, no i'm pretty sure it's lupus. I looked up his symptoms on webmd.
Edit....too late. Should have known one of the best House lines of the entire series wouldn't escape everyone but me,!

That's one way to say it. Another way to say it is that Sutter has had to give Monahan an extremely limited role because he's not managing anything at all at either end of the ice. And I think that's a far more accurate summation than couching it as though Monahan has been asked not to score or check iin the corners.
His hockey IQ is great and his will is there, but he's too ruined to help the team much right now. It sucks. But the truth is any number of players would be an immediate and significant upgrade in both speed and scoring, and likely in physical play as well.
Flames beat a very good team last night in a game where penalties didn't decide things, it was very much skill vs skill and two different approaches to the game. Really interesting and fun to watch, even if a little nail-bitey for a bunch of the second and third period.
Biggest 2 points of the year? Yeah I think so. Many games left but this was a big watermark game for this team. And they duked it out and came out on top!
Go Flames Go!

First game attended in years.
wow, great seats, 7th row behind and left of the Av’s goal. So good to see how big and fast and mean the Flames are now. Love that they seem to bully at times
It’s awesome to see that their guys like Mang, Coleman, Johnny are as much “in your face” as the bigger stronger players

Best part about that clip (well, behind the strip, the pass, and the finish)? Johnny giving his game stick to the kid in the Flames jersey behind the bench:
Calgary’s finest:
1) Stu Hart
2) Bret Hart.
3) Johnny Hart.

Super late to the party here - great party though – but I have to say I don’t think the flames were The better team that game. I felt like our D had a bit of a rough night to be honest and I barely noticed lines 2 through 4. Vladar is full marks for the W.If he had an average or even a good night, I think we lose by 2 or 3.
edit: also I should clarify, by D I mean top 4; 16 + 44 we’re by far the best pair tonight and played a lot. Sutter is relying on them more and more. I’m starting to wonder if maybe that is the deep pairing that becomes a priority to preserve in the off-season at the expense of some others.

Fun game. Was really tired so was having a tough time staying up but damn I wanted to watch these teams play.
Love the Vladar start. Such a Sutter move. However I don’t really get the hesitancy to play him in the first place. IMO Markstrom has shown some fatigue for a while, and I’ve been very impressed with Vladar each time he’s played. I can’t remember thinking a loss was on him, and I think he’s given us very reliable back up goaltending. I don’t see why he doesn’t play every 5 or 6 games. But in Sutter I trust.

Agreed. It feels like we might have scored a real gem here, maybe an heir apparent. Let him play, and even if he’s not in your long term plans, showcase him. He’s sure note going to hurt you in-game from what I’ve see .
I’d hate to see Vladar cut loose and become a star elsewhere. Feels like he might have that ability.
