222 people in ICU with COVID in Alberta right now. Only 17 of them are fully-vaccinated. 199 haven't had a single dose of the vaccine.

I really don't know what your barrier is and respectfully, I wonder if perhaps you aren't completely certain either? However, whatever that barrier is, it seems like it's big enough to seemingly put you in a state of decision paralysis. I perceive maybe that's why you're asking questions, acknowledging good responses, but the answers aren't motivating you to make a decision? The real question hasn't been answered yet. But the real question maybe hasn't been asked yet either.

I honestly don't think you're trolling, but with the amount of wheel spinning going on, I can see why others might think otherwise. Others might have a lot of frustration with you for selecting/not selecting a specific conclusion, but on the flip side, no one perhaps knows how frustrated you yourself might be about which conclusion to choose.

Maybe I'm wrong, but what if natural immunity and risk is not the real question you're asking and that's the reason for the poor articulation you mention? A question well posed is a question half answered. I wonder if some of the responses are perfect answers to questions that aren't actually holding you back.

For instance, there are stories of people with needle phobia. It's not the content of the needles holding them back, it's the experience of it. So asking questions about risk won't help such a person at all. Fuzz's post about getting drunk and just do it could be taken in jest, but there are legitimately stories of people who have needle phobia and need special set ups to get vaccinated. Fuzz's comment could actually be the answer someone out there is looking for. That's kinda what I mean when I was talking about having the right perspective and/or getting good answers to questions that aren't actually holding you back.

Also, are you also worried about making a decision without your spouse? Don't discount the importance of social support. "I'll do it if you do it" or "I'm worried what that person will think" is a legitimate motivating call to action for many people.

The odds that we can have significant influence in your life as strangers on the internet is unknown. What we attempt to convey to you perhaps will not be as easily digest and internalize as the exact same message from a differing source (ie: A spouse, family member, friend etc.). You yourself walked into a room of people with an inherent bias towards vaccination, and you're seemingly trying to understand that point of view, but unable to internalize that concept.

I hope you find the nudge you're looking for to get vaccinated, whatever that nudge may be.

Those same risks that you point out for not being vaccinated are present if you're vaccinated as well.

FWIW, there were zero incidents of hospitalization of COVID in the study for those with natural immunity + vaccine. And only about 15 cases, I believe. Out of thousands of subjects.

If we're talking about risk profile, of the options available to you today, doing nothing is shown to be the biggest risk you can take by the very study you're using to justify doing nothing.

Health Canada has authorized brand name changes for three COVID-19 vaccines approved for use.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will now be named Comirnaty, the Moderna vaccine will be named SpikeVax, and the AstraZeneca vaccine will be named Vaxzevria, Health Canada said in a tweet Thursday.

'lol wut' Indeed. It has nothing to do with Health Canada -- that's what Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca decided to name their products, HC just has to allow them to make that branding change in Canada.

The new vaccine names are already being used for promotional purposes in the EU and the United States.

Got my third vaccine. Had AZ then PZ for my first two. Some countries do not recognize AZ and another. Called AHS at 2:45p to inquire about my situation and was vaccinated at 3:30 at Brentwood. My balls are the size of grapefruits now but oh well . . .

Assuming you are in Alberta you can not do a rapid test at the pharmacy if you are a close contact or symptomatic.

Several news reports out today to the effect that Moderna has significantly better efficacy than Pfizer 120 days after second dose. 92% v 77%.

The question of course is the true efficacy in Canada where governments increased the gap between first and second shots.

My understanding is the above figures resulted from studies where manufacturers’ guidelines were followed for vaccines: 2 weeks between Pfizer shots and 3 weeks between Moderna.
