they've changed the rules in favour of the defense, which was a much needed move ... no longer can guys like Harden just jump into the defender to draw fouls. It's working, FTA have gone down and I agree, it makes for great basketball.

Definitely a term that is on the rise. Measuring wing span has been around a long time, but I don’t ever remember it being considered such a critical aspect of a player analysis like it has been the last few years.

I love watching the long athletic types try to exploit the slower big guys. The matchups and strategy of creating mismatches is what makes basketball so fun to watch for me. It would be interesting to see a guy like Shaq try to survive in todays game. Teams like the Raptors would try to pick on him and put him in space on every trip down the floor.

I think being allowed to be more physical this year would only help his ability to be great TBH. Shaq was like a 7 foot defensive lineman out there.

It would be fun to watch. Against the Raptors he’d have to guard Achiuwa, and he’d be put in a pick and roll or iso scenario on every trip down the floor. Guys like Howard and Kanter struggle to stay on the floor because opposing teams get open looks every possession. You have to be incredibly efficient in the paint to be able to out score a team getting open threes all game.

This team is honestly a lot better than I thought they’d be so far this season

Agreed. Looks like some level of settling down has taken place where they're distributing better and playing more cohesive. Still missing that finisher which is what all NBA teams need. My complete guess is they're seeing who will work with different systems, and will really look to draft high in the lottery this year and hopefully pick up that franchise scorer. Too early to tell, but based on skill and everything, I'm thinking Barnes will be a great second option in his career. Tonight he turned it up in the second half nicely.

Ok I've seen enough, I'm naming them the Scraptors. Love the fight and grit. Nurse getting the absolute most out of them, excited for Pascal's return

I mean, they have been playing all teams with pretty bad losing records.

But they are at least winning the games they should.

Trent's performance on defense this season is the most pleasant surprise of the Raps season, he's making RJ work like crazy tonight.

NY is a good team this year. Raps on the way to winning this one is a big deal.

I'd love a Knicks/Raptors playoff series. I find the Knicks a fun team to watch... plus it always seems like random Raptors get hyped up about playing in MSG.

I mean it has definitely been fun watching the Knicks suck so badly under Dolan, but the NBA is a better place when the Garden is rocking, nowhere else quite like it.

Khem Birch has been fantastic so far. It's a totally different team when he is on the court vs when they have Precious out there at the 5.

Big shoutout to Svi Mykhailiuk as well who has been a tremendous addition so far. His style of play fits the team culture very well and he is on a nothing deal. Nice work by Bobby & Masai with that signing.

I love watching the NBA again! The games have way more flow. I don't want to watch players shoot free throws! Also this Raps team is just ridiculous on defense. I honestly don't know how they can stay that amped up in a regular season game. Part of me is afraid if they do make the playoffs they might be burnt out but another part of me thinks they strive on it. It's definitely part of their identity as a team.

And Nick Nurse is just an incredible coach. I don't know how he does it but he gets so much out of his players.

We back to the early 2000’s with these new rules. A lot of players efficiency and scoring have gone down

Yeah, you never really know how things shake out when all is said and done but in this years nba little guys can’t just run into bigs and Hope a foul gets called. It’s oversimplified but that was happening for years leading to this. Now bigs can play big and it evens the field substantially strategy wise on when you play your bigs and smalls. I like that the Raps have a bigger lineup. If Masai truly seen this coming he’s a genius.
