As someone who is pretty connected with that region, that type of language is used literally ALL THE TIME.

I read something on Reddit that I can't find right now, but it said Alioski said some things to Arautovic along the lines of him being a traitor for not playing for Serbia earlier on, so Arautovic replied in kind after scoring since Alioski could be playing for Albania.

I frankly don't think either guy was being 'racist' per se, but obviously UEFA can't just let that go these days.

One match ban is fine, but Alioski is not innocent here.

And country is not race, it's just state borders.

Who cares? Does that excuse his actions? He was still being a pos.

of course he was a pos, but I think that suspension is harsh. Swiss players with Albanian roots were openly mocking Serbian players at the WC 2018 and were not banned, but this is suspension-worthy? Okay then.

I'm the first to admit that Arnautovic is an idiot, but even Alioski shrugged the whole thing off and accepted his apology. I think a fine would have been enough, but it is what it is.

but hey, if you had asked me if there's a guy who could overshadow a positive result with his stupid actions it'd obviously had to be Arnautovic. Dude just can't out of his damn way.

I'm pleasantly surprised how fast Italy are. Still defensively sound of course.

That ball to set Berardi free on the goal was fantastic. Locatelli with the start and finish on that goal was great.

Both are wrong but I find quite a significant difference between the two.

The first is a couple of players making an eagle gesture with their hands to demonstrate their ethnicity. Yes, provocative towards a crowd wearing butcher of Bosnia tshirts.

The second is an individual of one ethnicity talking about raping the mother of another making a point of naming the ethnicity of the individual. And given there is a history of rape between the two ethnicities.

Who cares what Shaquiri and Xhaka got? FIFA took the cowardly route then. Does that mean UEFA need to match? Opportunity lost imo. The tournament and the world would be no worse off if he was kicked out of it and a message of zero tolerance would have been sent.

I will be curious how the Danes come out today. Really unfortunate they were asked to continue playing the game against Finland, could have simply called it a draw. It essentially ended their Euro tournament, despite utterly dominating possession and shots.

Thanks God Eriksen seems to be recovering but definitely a blow to the team. He is also their best player.

Belgium aren't really serious contenders with the defense they have. Sure they are as good as anyone in midfield and attack, but that defense is guaranteed to let them down in key moments.

I guess the Danes answered that emphatically.

The Belgians have not been great but they might just be caught in a storm here. Denmark is absolutely everywhere. I think any team would be struggling with how they are playing right now. Curious to see if they can keep it up for another half as they may all be knackered.

Denmark playing with a lot of energy and serious conviction today, that early goal really helped them.

I also think Martinez is resting on the points they garnered from Russia and in anticipation of the match against Finland when you look at the players he's left on the bench for now.

Its been entertaining though, the real question is whether the Danes can maintain this pace through the second half.
