I'll sure take half a dozen ping ping goals on the Habs so we can call it even on the season.

Not a bad period by any means.

At least back then my friends and I could get nose bleed seats and move down anywhere we wanted after the game started.

IMO, they competed hard.

2 PP GA...one lost battle by Gio, one own goal deflection by Vali.

Consistently playing it safe is part of the Flames demise. Waited forever to trade Iggy and didn’t capitalize on good trade value. They will do the same thing with Ward. He’ll be gone at some point but it will be far too late to turn things around. The ownership of this team is so strange. It’s like they crave mediocrity.

Well coached teams hammer home the fundamentals on stick placement and discipline, this team is horrendous at both to start this year.

It isn't all on the coach, but he's a big part of the problem with this team. It was a bad hire from day 1.

...also if Backlund and Giordano decide to start earning their $12M+ in combined salaries, that would be nice. Slugging Lucic and Ryan's wasted $8M+ around the ice is already tough enough, we can't handle any more dead weight.

Was hoping to switch over to watch the Oilers lose instead. Not on yet, still have to watch the Flames get pummeled, and get some more penalties for playing perfect defense.

I'd like to see the D more engaged in the offensive zone.
It's risky as always but down by 2 it may be their best chance to get back in this game.

And those punches cause chaos, which in turn may give them a few PPs. The PPs been good so far.

I'm a little shocked at the panic. While I'm not overly happy with our start to the year, you've got to keep in mind that nobody had a preseason. You've got the new faces plus the old guys with rust, and they're only sorting things out these first few games. I wouldn't expect teams to look like themselves until 10-15 games into the year, plus on top of the lack of a preseason you need to factor in that teams are usually a bit awkward coming out of the gate in a normal year. The only concerning thing is how short the season is; 15 games is over a quarter of the season. If we can hold to a .500 record while we sort out our issues, I think we'll be okay over the last 3/4 of the year.

They just don’t inspire much confidence. Maybe it’s the way regular season hockey is played these days but I just find it awful to watch and struggle to get excited about 9 of 12 forwards regularly doing an ODR level fly by stick check on the forecheck and just 5 guys gliding around the ice.

Slow tempo, lazy, soft

Montreal fans are not complaining about short camp. Why are the Flames different?

Yes, yes - cycle the perimeter and whip it from the point. That’s the strategy that’ll get the job done.

The Kevin Bieksa thread says it all. Perimeter play is how the new NHL operates. Grit and determination are overrated nonsense.
