Great game from Talbot.
Mangiapane looked good and stood out.
Reider should get a contract. Great PK work, good passes, couldn’t bury the puck.
Kilington had a rough game. Needs more AHL time.
Dube to me was ok/good but didn’t stand out in a way that would convince me to keep him up. Better he plays big minutes in the A.
Jankowski was disappointing from my viewpoint.
The rest were pretty meh

A noble goal. Just don’t get Auston Matthews level of drunk.
Too soon?

Enough of exhibition hockey. The real games can’t start soon enough.

Rieder is the only PTO I see possibly deserving of an NHL contract.

I could see MacDonald signed at league min. Kilington’s game tonight said I need more seasoning. If I’m a GM that’s great because it also means I have more depth.
I’d sign Rinaldo if I could get a 2 way or if I had the AHL budget to carry him. Then I’d shuffle him up and down

I don't mind Rieder as a league minimum depth player if he can fill a role like that.
I'd sign MacDonald league min. and Rinaldo to a 2-way too frankly. Its free depth at that price. Even if Rinaldo is just an upgrade on your 2nd or 3rd callup (Froese/ Lomberg).

We could use the depth for sure.

I’m confused, if it was a regular season game would Burns’ 4 assist period be a Shark record or something?

A nice "Sample" of what Kirkland has to offer tonight.

Talbot was the only stand out for me. CGY did well against a very good opponent.

Was at the game. Talbot was the best Flame by far. Tracked the puck well, no panic, made it look easy. It was obvious how he was able to steal games for the oil a few years ago. I think the stink is starting to wear off.
Ryan was the only skater to play an NHL game every shift. Andersson looked good. Dube had jump -- making the right plays away from the puck. Rieder is basically a penalty kill specialist -- he had no finish.
Jankowski needs more urgency to his first few steps -- or even to take a few steps. Way too much coasting for a guy still on the bubble. Mangiapane had jump but still needs NHL finish. Quine did not look NHL ready. Kylington has obvious NHL talent, but still needs to learn better judgement. I think he's best served by staying up at the NHL level.
Of the PTOs Davidson was the only one that looked like he knew his career was on the line -- not that he played great. I'd rather have a 28 year old Davidson than 33 year old McDonald.
DSP career is over. Rinaldo could have made himself s force in this game if he finished just one check every shift, but he just didn't show up.
Zagidulin got lit up by some pretty nasty deflections, but that's exactly what you have to be prepared for at the NHL level. Maybe some humble pie for him.
Everyone else was very forgettable. The Heat are going to suck.

Small correction but Davidson isn't on a PTO. He's signed 1 year league minimum.

So it looks like Janko is this years whipping boy, listening to the vocal minority.

Rieder season averages
2014/15-2017/18: 78gp 13.75g 15.5a 29.25pts
2018/19: 67gp 0g 11a 11pts.
Is it more likely that Toby Rieder is no good, or that Edmonton is no good?

Well, it is Rieder's fault that the Oilers missed the playoffs.

Talbot was good - a very good sign. Most of the rest of the team can be released from their PTOs, left in California, or return to their 3rd/4th line, 3rd pair roles.
Sharks look ok, but not like world beaters.

Yeah. My main takeaway from that gamer was that Kane, Karlsson, Hertl and Burns were not especially quick.
When the most skilled opponent you are facing is Derek Ryan, you should win.
