Every example you listed as a bad protest was from the right wing. No sympathy for the billions of damage inflicted on poor, minority communities by the BLM protests? This "preaching to choir" stuff only works if your already in the choir, to me it looks like lazy, crappy writing that betrays the brutal realism they spent so much time establishing. Equating Trump to basically a living god, yeesh.
The show was never meant to be 100% realistic. The other issue is how would the world have been different if there had been superheros. If people genuinely believed that there were other people born with the ability to fly and wipe you out with laser eyes or super speed, would that change the way our democracy works? Basically, like having WMDs in use, with no real control over them. Society would seem a lot more fleeting.
They are definitely trying to portray America as more polarized, which in a world with superheros, it would be. So major steps towards fascism, like executing a protestor are likely to be more common/tolerated.
I think we'll likely Homelander getting elected to head some kind of fascist rule, and Stormfront back somehow. I found her off screen death odd. Why establish that she was still alive and then have her chew her own tongue off, off screen?
I'd still have loved to see Homelander get blasted by Soldier Boy and lose all of his powers.
Then you have episodes of Homelander working at the Home Depot Garden Center, getting berated by Karen-customers and crapped on by his supervisor.
Then you follow him home while he buys a six-pack to sit in his one-bedroom apartment...
I'm still hoping we get to see that. So much potential.
Starbucks gets his order wrong...he attempts to laser blast the barrista, but just ends up frustratingly glaring at them...on the way back to his apartment a stray dog pisses on his leg.
Would actually be a great way to end the series. He loses his powers, then gets sued for all the damage he's done and ends up broke and riding the bus with the slubs he used to despise.

Right?? It would be a great ending!
Or even have him in prison but having an arrogant attitude and getting the crap kicked out of him by inmates.
You could even make it one of those 'For Profit' prisons and its owned by Vought.
The possibilities are endless!

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

I love how they incorporate current political climate into this show. I didn't love how season 3 ended since it didn't really achieve anything. Agenda and storyline feels like it'll be the same next season.
no ones going to cheer on HL after someones head blew up 5 feet away and they have brains drippong on them.

I concur, some of the BLM protests, along with G20 protests, Rodney King protests, would also be applicable in demonstrating that people would cheer Homelander's actions.

Not to mention the world of 'The Boys' is supposed to be 'Peak Cynical' so the ending really works, and even moreso because it sets us up for even bleaker world yet.

Loved the show and season, but I would agree it didn't quite stick the landing.
not sure about Butcher's reversal, which not just a momentary one to protect Ryan... I get it in the moment of danger, but think he should have gone after Homelander after getting Ryan safe... I mean, he's been trying to kill him for over a decade. At least Mauve was consistent in her hate.
I think its hilarious how they are mocking the MAGA morons - I wonder if they even get it...

Just because Trump said he could shoot someone in the street doesn't mean it's true. Or can you think of any other examples of public figures brutally murdering people in public? The shows been great for being even-handed in the political commentary, so it was pretty disappointing to see it go full "orange man bad".
Have you ever read any history books about fascism?
The Boys Diabolical animated bits are a lot of fun. The "Great Wide Wonder" episode is even written by the original comic writer and features the original versions of the characters.
Okay, I finished this and... was I the only one really distracted by whatever the heck Erin Moriarty did to her face? I just feel so bad for her that she thought that was something she should do.
Anyway, the season was good. Frenchy and Kimiko are probably my favourite people in the show so much that I didn't mind the otherwise pointless russian mafia sideplot thing that ultimately had no bearing on anything. I like that they didn't actually try to rehabilitate A-Train as a character. I was kind of hoping someone would kill Ashley. It's weird that in a show where so many people die horribly no one really seems to die. Even Maeve I'm assuming will probably get her powers back at some point.

Yea just finished and was about to mention this too, there were a bunch of Starlight scenes where it looked like she had this weird out of focus effect only on her (aside from a crazy amount of makeup), almost as if they had to deepfake her to make her look consistent with previous seasons. Stupid Hollywood “beauty” standards have claimed another one too soon.
I liked S3 a lot more than S2, even though the social/political commentary hasn’t been toned down any, somehow I found it much less grating. I dunno if I agree that everything’s still in the same spot as before, of the 6 important members of the Seven, 3 are off the team. And it sure looked like Ryan had a grin on his face so now they have 2 bad Supermen (3 if SB wakes up) and nobody else remotely close to as strong on the good side. Plus headpopper in the highest office, and I’m not totally sure what her true goals are.
I'm not sure where people were talking about Gen V, so I'll just plunk my thoughts down here.
First of all, it was kind of fine. Played like an expansion of the universe, which may have been the point, so if that was the case then I guess that they nailed it.
They also sort of Enterprise Season Four'd the last episode a bit, but considering that this was a bit of a side quest, it wasn't nearly as jarring.
Lastly, there was a joke in Superbad about a character compulsively drawing dicks on everything, and I'm starting to think that this might be a real life problem for Seth Rogan.
Double lastly, this was a very straightforward story, but I get the impression that the writer's thought it was twisty and turny.
Cool. Onto Loki, and waiting for season 4!

Has anyone watched the spin off Gen V?
Oh wait literally the guy above this post
I am part way through it and am enjoying it. It is worth watching if you like The Boys. It's practically the same show, just with different characters. It seems a little more rushed and a little less gritty, but I think the point is to introduce new characters that will eventually merge with the characters from The Boys. One of the writers called it The Boys, season 2.5.
