I hope so.
Would love a third line of Pelletier - Backlund - Armia/other 2-way RW, or something along those lines.

I can see Pelletier coming straight into the main roster. Flames need more tenacity and I don't think there's many better options out there in that department. Adds to LW depth too.

Would he be eligible to play on the Heat? A season there with Zary wouldn’t hurt.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Pretty unlikely he starts the season with the Flames with Sutter at the helm

Would love to see Pelletier and Zary get a chance to play third line on the Flames next year, but it's unlikely. I suspect we see more retreads until the two young guys have a season or two of AHL under their belts, or until Sutter moves on. Young guys have very short leashes and I think there are going to be young guys getting a chance out of camp that don't include Pelletier and Zary.

Depends on who Tre signs moreso than Sutter. If we pretend Nordstrom, Leivo, Ryan, and Simon are gone and Tre doesn't sign four more retreads then Pelletier should get a good look.

I personally would rather see him in the AHL as he's not a big guy and his style of play may not translate directly to the NHL against bigger and stronger players. I would like to see him develop his offensive game in the AHL rather than going from junior into an NHL checking role.

I am surprised Pelletier is not hyped up more, he had a great performance at WJC this year and even got promoted to the top line in the end. He improved in the Q this year, got 43 points in 28 games and is absolutely dominating in the playoffs. He has 22 points in 13 games (4 goals, 18 assists), he is averaging over 4 shots per game, and is just being unlucky with a shooting percentage of 6.9, while historically he has been around 15%. If he would be shooting with his historical average, he would have 9 goals.

development wise, I think the Flames ought to be careful rushing him...
better to spend a year in the minors to get used to the pro game rather than bringing him up too early imo

Pelletier us a very mature player. I won't be the least bit surprised if it is not "too early."

All I can get

Pelletier will need a year in the AHL at the very least.
Pelletier plays a skilled, but aggressive style and will need to answer to the big boys.

Yes.
All of Pelletier, Zary, Wolf, and Francis will be able to join the Heat from the CHL next season.

Not sure which camp you fall into but the prevailing CP wisdom seems to be that Bennett was ultimately hurt by not having AHL time. I don’t think we should be rushing non-blue chip prospects.

Yes, Bennett should have spent time in the AHL. I think when he missed much of that 2014 development year because of his injury he should have been earmarked for AHL time to learn and show what he can do. Pelletier and Zary may be a little bit different because of the years they have had. Pelletier has been really good in the Q and Zary was the straw that stirred the drink during his time in the AHL, so they may be an exception. While I wouldn't mind seeing them play third line in the NHL next season, I would start them both in the AHL to ease them in. Plus, there should be other young guys stepping up (Ruzicka and Mackey) that will probably east up the rookie slots on the big club. Sutter will not want a team with four or five rookies on it. Just hasn't been his style.

I think Pelletier has what it takes to be on the big show, but I’d love for him and Pelletier to start developing some chemistry with top line minutes with the Heat.
I think Ruzicka has what it takes to start playing in a bottom 6 C/LW role if he works hard enough for it during preseason.

I will be cheering for this kid to make it. Mature game and tenacious motor.
Pelletier, Zary, Ruzicka, Phillips and Gawdin - plus Mackey.
I have to figure that 2 out of this bunch will make it through camp and preseason, and be on the starting lineup (more if injuries happen of course). Mackey is almost a guarantee at this point. Sutter is most familiar with Ruzicka and Gawdin, and one game of Phillips. Those are the front-runners right now.
I do think Pelletier will be an everyday NHL'er. Maybe this upcoming season, maybe not for a few years, but he seems like one of those really 'pro' guys that are way more mature than you would expect them to be, and play a really mature game already.

If he gets a call up and is able to contribute during stretch run and playoffs next year, that would be a huge win.

The problem with Bennett is even if the Flames didn’t call him up in 2015 he was not eligible to play in the AHL in his draft +1. He would have to go back to the CHL for his 19 year old season. It would have been his 20 year old season when Tkachuk was drafted where he could have first played in the AHL.
I agree with your take on having Zary and Pelletier playing big minutes on the Heat to start next year unless they absolutely force their way on the roster.

More seasoned.
