Who are the call-ups?
Lazar has probably earned one.
Josh Healey on D? Yikes!

Zucker and Staal should get slashed into oblivion next game.

It will be all the sweeter when we spank the Oilers anyway.

This league is unreal
Also frustrating to know the injury to Backs and the Lomberg suspension could've been avoided if the refs did their job and called the Backlund trip. Morons.

In isolation, I'm not mad about Gio getting 2 games. Wasn't a good play at all.
The frustrating thing here is the inconsistency displayed by this league time and time again.

Hate the call, DOPS with another questionable decision. It was more of a trip in my opinion, but what are you going to do, Koivu was injured and this had to have factored in on the situation.

That’s ridiculous.
He didn’t extend his knee. He extended his foot. It was a trip and nothing more.

There's really no defending Gio's play there IMO.

This is payback for Gio's hit on Fowler in the playoffs a couple of years ago.

When I first saw the play I thought for sure Gio would get a call from the NHL. Once I was able to watch the replay, from a couple of angles, I realized that the initial 2 minute trip was the right call. Because that is what it was...a trip.
The DOPS really missed on this one.

The Oilers have 6 Healeys on defence.

Crash and Bang Winger

to me, it looks like gio shifted his leading leg in order to come to a stop rather than crash toe first into the boards and it unfortunately made contact with koivu's knee.. not intentional but unfortunate none the less. i could have handled 1 game. 2 is pushing it.

If it is any consolation, Preds are dealing with major injuries of their own.
The Oilers game is going to be a major gut check. That should be fun.

I don't think it's payback and more that it's the 2nd player in the last three seasons he's injured sticking his leg out. Sucks but I understand why he got the suspension.

Taking Giordano and Backlund out of the lineup is equivalent, in Greaserville, to taking Draisaitl and Klefbom out of the lineup.
The team's top defenseman, and #2 C.
Gio-Backs account for 46 points so far, Drai-Klef for 45
Backlund is key defensively, and Giordano is key both offensively and defensively, and is an important part of the PP. Draisaitl is key offensively, and Klefbom is key defensively, and is an important part of the PP.
When you think about it, it is a pretty reasonable comparison overall.
Now, take a moment, and try to imagine what the Oilers would look like if Draisaitl and Klefbom were not in the lineup. It is actually astounding to think about.

oh shut it...Flames players always get the book thrown at them
much worse plays this season have resulted in less than two game suspensions

Keep saying that, but change Koivu to Backlund, and see what comes up.
