Nice to see some pushback from the team after getting down by a couple. Hamonic's goal celebration said it all. Hoping to see more of that competitive fire for the rest of this game.

And how the f*** are the Oilers winning? That's two elite teams in a row that they've played well against. Not sure I like this timeline all of a sudden.

Cassie is relatively inexperienced when it comes to commentating games. I think it's just a case of her improving.

Cassie: "That was a great play there, Mark. What happened was that the puck was shot into the net by a player who was using a hockey stick. A really great play. I believe the player who shot the puck was also wearing skates at the time, and that there was another player wearing really big pads who was trying to stop the puck from entering the net."

Mark: "And here's the faceoff..."

Cassie: "Mark, I just watched the replay a couple more times, and I can confirm that the puck did indeed go in the net. This also means, I believe, that the player trying to prevent the puck from entering the net actually failed to prevent that puck from entering the net..."

Mark: "...and Giordano collects the puck behind the net and moves it out to Brodie on the other side..."

Cassie: "Yes, I just spoke with an assistant coach with the Swift Current Broncos, and he also confirmed that all of this does actually happen when there's a goal. So I believe that a good goal was just scored."

Mark: "...an outstanding save! There's a rebound..."

Cassie: "Also, Mark, it appears that the number on the scoreboard is one digit higher than what it was before the goal was scored, but I'm on the phone right now with Saskatchewan's head athletic therapist, who is recording the game. He's rewinding it now to let me know if my observation is correct."

Mean, and unnecessary, but I still laughed.

Francis claiming the Flames benefit from slashing calls overall?
Good for Sutter to call out those calls. Francis trying to marginalize him deserves a punch in the nose.

Some bad giveaways so far this period. Smith looks more comfortable though.

He wasn't that deep considering it was a power play. And plenty of goalies have had rebounds off Ovechkin. You need those rebounds cleared.

I don't know how you can take Hathaway out of the lineup.

He is bringing hustle for days.

Flames need more guys like that.

His ass was over the goal line, he was way too deep.

That sequence all started with Hathaway tipping that clearing pass. Good hustle from him again.
Cassie back to the stick issue from minutes ago.

If Backlund could shoot the puck he could have 10 goals this year.
