Didn't get to watch the game but i'm quite happy to see that Smith has his game back. That shutout has to be a huge confidence booster from him and the Flames.
What can you say about Lindholm. He continues to impress with each every game he places. Finally we have the RW'er the top line has been missing.

I’m not even upset that I helped contribute to the derailment at this point!
To address the other debate: I was happy with Peluso overall. I question whether he can avoid becoming an anchor over a whole season and especially down the stretch. That’s why guys like Neal, Gio and Chucky are so valuable.

Can’t we all be happy?
Bennett played well,
Peluso didn’t cost us the game
Goaltending was good
Some people just can’t be happy and need to get uppity about PC and English language (only read from page 12 on...)
Just enjoy this one boys, we’re gonna look back on this game and appreciate how well the team played because this was a good effort to put away a clearly self imploding press team (for the night )

Common sense and respect for others would dictate not using the word. It's that simple.

It's going to be a huge debate who to sit next game. By rights it maybe should be Neal, but at the same time he needs the ice time to get going. He's going to be necessary in the long term.

Wasn't a fan of the Peters hire but I like what I have seen so far. Loved seeing Dube and Valimaki killing penalties, absolutely awesome and they rewarded his faith with excellent play. It's amazing what a coach giving a kid confidence can do.
Thought Ryan had a quality if not quiet game. Made some nice plays and the 4th line did exactly what they were supposed do. Was in for a penalty kill as well.
Hanifin and Stone with nice bounce back games. I think there is a lot more to Hanifin's game then there was Hamilton's. Better angles, more agility with a little more snarl as well. Solid game from him.
Lindholm is just a quality hockey player. No idea how many points he will get but he does a lot of things right on the ice and will have a positive impact on the game far more times than not. Great pick up.
Good win. Couldn't read the PGT because of all the stupid crap about Peluso. He played well, best game from the 4th line yet and the team had a tonne of confidence. Whether that was Peluso or not who cares it was a great game. People need to get over their need of being "right" all the damn time as it just ruins this place.

That was a great game by the Flames. I think score effects were pretty apparent in this one. The Flames played really well early and when the Predators fell down by 2 early in the second, they began pouring it on trying to catch up.
I think they should keep that 3rd line together again next game. It had some excellent shifts and I thought Bennett was instrumental in a lot of them.
Lindholm and Czarnik have transformed the RW position.
I also like how the blue line is coming together. Hanifin is just so awesome and Valimaki - Andersson were solid.

This is the second game in a row where the Flames were boned by the refs on a bad call then scored shortly after.
That would never have happened last season. That call would have sunk this team. I saw more fight this game than from the entirety of the last two seasons. I love it.

Yes, two mentally tough games overall, in fact, even aside from the no-goals.

The 9 game mark doesn’t matter for him, it’s a year on his contract either way.

I’ve only read til here at this point, but damn what a change in coaching philosophy!! Don’t roll 4 lines, play the guys their proper minutes! Mix the lines! Man this team looks so much better!

Pretty complete game.
This is different than last year because it wasn't like the Flames barely hung on. When they weren't killing a penalty they looked fast and were aggressive with their forecheck.
I know it's early, but if this is Peters hockey I'm on board.

I completely agree. This fight-back attitude was evident in preseason, and even though I fall on the ‘preseason doesn’t matter’ side of things, this certainly seems like a (welcome) trend!

Hanifin has all the best qualities of Bouwmeester.
Played 19:35 of even strength ice time tonight.

Circle's 2 cents (or 5) for the game:
Powerplay continues surge:
- Although it wasn't as dominant in my opinion, the PP still found ways to create chances and ultimately score 2 goals. The first PP goal was simply all Gaudreau. No two ways about it, just a beautiful drag and pass to Lindholm. The second PP goal was a good play where there was good movement and a good garbage goal by Mony. What I've liked these past 2 games with regards to the PP that I have noticed is different from last season is that we are seeing much more movement and more quick passes from the hash marks in to the red line and back out into the slot. I've said it before but last season there was basically no movement and the PP consisted of waiting for Gaudreau to eventually pass it to Dougie where he would take a wrist shot from the top of the circle. When there is no creativity, the PP becomes predictable and easy to defend against. We are seeing better looks because of quicker decision making and our players actually creating seams by skating (who would have thought!). Hope to see the PP continue to shine the next game.
The Rookie 3rd Pairing:
- 1st Period:
Definitely slow feet to start the game, tentative playmaking, and really felt like the 3rd pairing was on their heels for most of the period. I thought Valimaki looked lost to start the game and perhaps that just shows the difference of calibre between the Preds and Canucks. Rasmus although great with the puck has to continue working on his play without it.
- 2nd Period:
Weird how quick things change but Valimaki in particular looked so poised and confident. To cap this off, Valimaki was in on the critical 5-on-3 and did a good job keeping the Preds from making cross-ice passes. Although Ras didn't do too much this period, he looked like he settled in.
- 3rd Period:
More of the same from Valimaki. I like that Valimaki is also getting a handful of shifts on the right side. Versatility goes a long way in this league and Valimaki looked quite solid. I believe it was this period where Valimaki had a monster shift where he made 3 consecutive pinches which led to multiple scoring chances. Ras saw little time in the third from what I remember but all-in-all, I like what I saw from the young guys after the first period.
Hanifin quietly impressive:
- Although no points as of yet for the newly acquired d-man, he has been impressive in his defensive play and has had chances each game offensively. I didn't see too much of Hanifin in his time with Carolina, but man, it honestly is a pleasure to watch him just skate on the ice. He glides on the ice without any effort. And just because we will always be comparing Hanifin to Dougie for the rest of eternity, I think Hanifin's ability to handle the puck and to carry it through the neutral zone will fit Peters' system wonderfully. Dougie, although an offensive force, wasn't much of a puck carrier. I think Hanifin is a great fit here and am excited to see him for the next 6 years. It will be just a matter of time before he pots one but I am expecting it soon based on his play.
Smith bounces back:
- As Tkachuk put it Saturday night, "Elite." Great performance by Smith, especially on the 5-on-3 where he saved a few point blank slapshots. Hardly any rebounds, good stick to disrupt a lot of plays. Definitely the player of the game and a well-deserved rest where Rittich will start in St. Louis.
Great effort by Bennett:
- Bennett looked awesome tonight. He was hard on the forecheck, made great plays, scored a goal... wait what, there was a whistle on the play!? In all seriousness, Bennett made the smart play with the puck every time and I think is pushing for some PP time soon. Keep it up!
