If you like Tkachuk, you'll like him even more with Reaves in the lineup. We need someone besides our top prospect who'll step up for his teammates. Flames please sign Reaves!
Coach played him in the Stanley Cup finals so to question whether he can play hockey is just stupid.

Reaves is a ####ty hockey player. He simply just crushes people and sometimes punches guys faces in. Plain and simple.
He doesn't provide anything to contribute to wins.

I don't think anyone is thinking that he's going to make a massive difference with the Flames. He'll get 4th line minutes and add a little toughness to this team and that's it.

Which is something our own team said was needed. Mike Smith was embarrassed last year that Tanner Glass was in the AHL most of the year and was the only player willing to defend his teammates.

The things he stops other teams from doing is probably his best asset. Yes, he brings value to the team.

Which is why i'm baffled anyone would be against this signing.

Because it says more about the rest of the team and the coach than it does the need for a face puncher

I would have thought that after the Brouwer signing thread, this forum would be a little kinder to those who don't agree with every move, however. That is truly a black mark on the board.

What you have done (aside from being in rare form whining about everything in the last week) is painting "this forum" with one brush.
I noticed several places commenting on the over-reaction here to the recent trade and your incessant complaining about it was probably the most glaring.
In both cases of the above it would be nice if you toned it down a notch.

Someone should tell Yzerman that Reaves is available, Stamkos led the Lightning in PIM's last year, it was probably a factor that led to their ####ty season. Tough to win without a tough guy.

That really doesn’t explain why though. “I’m against signing Ryan Reaves because it means we’re not a tough team” doesn’t give much. Reaves would go towards addressing whatever it says about the rest of the team.

It’s always funny when certain posters accuse the whole forum of hating on those who think “differently,” when it’s rarely the differentiating factors of the thought, and based nearly 100% on the method of delivery.
If you want to pass the illusion that comments like the ones you’re responding to are just because you’re an original thinker, it’s probably not a good idea to do so in the same breath as accusing the whole board of groupthink and take the first opportunity to point out the last time “the board” was wrong.

Brandon Bollig. Nicklas Grossmann. Tanner Glass. All brought in to add toughness to the team and nothing else. All were terrible players who don't belong near an NHL team.
If you want to add toughness to the team, cool. But go out and get a skill player who also provides toughness. Don't bring in a face puncher who isn't going to contribute nothing else and who will just fill a roster spot that would be better spent on a player who provides at least a little offense and/or defense, both of which Reaves provides nothing of

Do you want to give an example of one of my posts with poor delivery and how I should have worded it differently?
Similarly, why is it that all too often that instead of addressing the concerns raised in the post, the poster is personally mocked?
I think the user United said it right a while back, can't remember where. Before you even enter one of these threads, you know which posters are going to be on opposite sides, but it's only one side that gets ridiculed for having a different opinion.

I'm ok with picking the guy up on a decent deal but that would only be to give us a different option. If reporters on Twitter are right and teams are offering longer deals it's a no thank you from me.

I don’t know about your delivery in general, but as soon as you attempt to indict “the board” for an idea or invoke “groupthink” you are inviting criticism.

Because apparently posters are allowed to personally mock others on this board without repercussions. It's always one side. It's always predictable.

If there’s one thing i’ve learned, and am still working on myself, it’s that there’s a report function which can (and should) be used instead of “I know what you are but what am I.”
The “it’s always everyone else” thing isn’t going to move the needle to where you want it to go.
