I just find the brand itself boring. No emotion from the coach, no inspiration, and the players are focusing too much on sticking to some failing system instead of just playing hockey. Systems are important of course, but hockey is 90% mental. As bad as Hartley was at utilizing a system, Gulutzan is as bad in instilling any emotion. Hartley would be red in the face yelling at the refs after their pathetic officiating over the past year and half. GG just looks so passive and weak. Tough choices right now for Treliving I think. If he sticks with GG and he loses the room we might be out by December. Or we turn it around like we did last year and go on a run. The way we're playing right now though I don't see that happening. If it weren't for Smith in net, we're worse than last year. I don't mind losing, as long as the game itself is entertaining.

Look at how those players are doing now they have escaped from that outdated system. The Sutter era is over, good riddance!
Are you seriously talking about the resurgence of Dustin ####ing Brown? LOL what a stupid statement.

Guy won't get more than 40 points. Chill. And Kopitar won't get more than 65.

This guy is to the Flames as Mike Johnston was to Crosby and the Penguins. Please rid the team of this plague.
Can we lease stop with this garbage. He has a right to an opinion without the petty insults being thrown at him. Grow up!

I frankly would not be opposed to the return of Darryl Sutter to coach this team.

Built in a very similar way to the Kings were when they won cups.

As I've seen it under Gulutzan, the Flames play a more possession-oriented style with emphasis on setting up plays to enable shots from high-danger areas. It's a system that forces the defense to play a lesser role in the offense and is more structured than Hartley's run-and-gun style of "everybody gets to join the rush". The Flames certainly have a style at the moment, effective or not, but I think their style is common to other teams throughout the league as well. I think what needs to change is their team identity, and if that means Gulutzan or someone else gets the axe, then so be it, but I don't feel like change for the sake of change is the answer.

Regarding Sutter, it's not that I feel he has a short shelf life, because I don't think he does. He was effective in L.A. for over three years, well above-average for a coach. It's just that I don't feel his style meshes with the one that the Flames' players try to play. Like, how many punishing physical presences do the Flames have? Maybe three? Tkachuk, Ferland, and Hamonic? Bennett might be a stretch? After that, you get into guys like Hamilton and Brouwer -- guys who have size but who don't use it in a physical manner, really. With the Kings, Sutter used guys like Nolan, King, Clifford, Brown, Regehr, Mitchell, Penner, and Westgarth to clear up space for his more skilled players, many of whom lacked speed but could shoot the puck. He favoured a dump-and-chase style, which would allow those bigger guys to muscle the puck and set up opportunities in the offensive zone. I just don't see that ability from the Flames' forward group.

Yeah, you're totally right. I get all my hockey knowledge from my "Hockey Now!" collection and my copy of NHL 2K2 for the Dreamcast. Thank you for putting me in my rightful place.

At least Darryl Sutter would command the respect of the room. I don't know if we can say the same about Gulutzan

GG has no mention of his bad coaching on 960.We have a very good team but under GG we have no hope of having success. He needs to go this is embarrassing.

Here's another thought - perhaps Brodie and Brouwer and Bennett will actually have better performance under a coach that isn't Gully!

Mike Smith through 10 games:

2.44 GAA / 0.927 SV%

Take out Ottawa game:

2.11 GAA / 0.938 SV%

We're 5-6......

It's a blatant systems issue.

Without Smith, I’d be surprised if we had won a single game.

I am getting fully on board the fire Gulutzan band wagon. I really have no idea what he's trying to accomplish out there.

Other than what has been mentioned:

-Plays the first line with the third pair a ton
-Double shifts Gaudreau with Stajan and Brouwer instead of shortening the bench
-Gives the 4th line lots of ice time (where's the high intensity short shifts that 4th lines are for)
-Saddles our 1st pairing with the 4th line often
-All 4 lines seem to play the exact same system regardless of personell
-The players do not seem to be engaged at all
-Extreme lack of neutral zone play, our team looks like we're playing football out there switching between defense and offense with no fluidity.

Again I have no idea what GG is trying to accomplish by rolling 4 lines, 3 D pairings and having everyone play the exact same way. Not only is this not working, it's painful as #### to watch.
