I don't think so. Would be great to have him for faceoffs. No real benefit to waiving him with other options.

Hamilton would be waived before Stajan. I would even say Janko gets sent down before waiving Stajan.( not that i think its right)
GG said a couple of days ago that Stajan was his 4th line center to start the season.

I agree,
Cap wise, I expect he is the type of player that will have to go.

Why? They only shed $900,000 of his salary. Unless you actually think some team would pick him up on waivers. lol

Jagr would directly push him out of the third line RW spot. Brouwer is not a fourth line player. I'm not a fan of Lazar but I'd rather see him or preferably Hathaway in that role

now
Talks between UFA Jaromir Jagr and CGY are continuing/progressing. Not yet a "done deal" but they are working towards that.

News UpdatePierre LeBrun
@PierreVLeBrun
According to Blues GM Doug Armstrong, the Blues made an offer to Jaromir Jagr over the weekend. Was informed he's gone another direction.
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Armstrong says he, Martin Brodeur and Mike Yeo spoke with Jagr on the phone over the weekend then made him an offer. No hard feelings though
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Armstrong first reached out to Jagr's agent Petr Svoboda last week after Fabbri went down... the Blues GM got word Jagr went another route

Jankowski is a cheaper option, they will need to make tough decisions in my opinion.
Matt Stajan Cap Hit: $3,125,000
Mark Jankowski Cap Hit is $900,000
I would think, they would try to trade him

I don't know how I feel about this. There's a decent chance he'll come to Calgary and completely suck.... But I guess it's worth the gamble because this is Jagr after all.

Again, all signs point to the Flames signing Jagr but until it's done-done, nothing is official. (more)

IF Jagr "sucks" they can waive him or something if they really want. Just having him around to mentor the kids is ideal.

If indeed Jagr deal gets done in Calgary, am told it's for $1 million base salary plus another $1 million in attainable bonuses

I do think Stajan has some value in the league (Waiver or Trade). Doesn't Pittsburgh need a 3rd line centre? I wouldn't mind Stajan going to the Pens, I like him.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
Likely in the contract that Jagr doesn't go anywhere but the press box if he under performs.

Yikes! I wasn't a fan of signing Jagr because I wanted the kids to get their shot.... (Kids flunked). Nothing ventured nothing gained I suppose... If it doesn't work out they cut him and he walks away with some cash... I would think it's one year around a million... It's not like Jagr has better options and he wants to get in his games to set the record for number played

Send Stajan down and save the 900K you then pay Jankowski. Tanner Glass would likely be out at this point IMO.
Gazdic and Hamilton also go down..none of them will be claimed either.
I guess we will find out by 10AM tomorrow at the latest.
