The difference is the Jets have been a highly penalized team for many seasons. The Flames were the least penalized team until the Wideman incident. Now they're the most penalized...

To be fair, we did add some jerks into our lineup, like Tkachuk and Brouwer. Also, Bennett is playing a lot more than he did last year. That's a solid number of PIMs right there.

The red snake had a decision to make after 35 games. Should it follow the green snake upwards, or follow the purple snake sideways. The red snake decided the grass was greener, and picked up. It always feels good to beat the canucks.
The red snake is 4.146 points below the black line, 1 point below the green snake and 2 points above the purple snake. If the red snake wins the next five games in a row, it will be exactly at the black line after the mid-season (41 game) mark. Those games are:
at Colorado (12-20-1)
vs. Anaheim (17-12-2)
vs. Arizona (11-17-5)
vs. Colorado (12-20-1)
at Vancouver (14-18-3)
Since the Anaheim game is in Calgary, and not in the house of horrors, that is a very winnable five game set. The Flames get a bonus sixth game the very next night, against the very same canucks that they play in the fifth game of the set. Come on red snake. Let's put another win streak together.

With tonight's 6-3 win over the Ghosts of Calgary Flames past, the red snake moves closer to the black line. It is 3.317 point below the promised land, remains 1 point below the green snake, and puts 4 points between itself and the purple snake. A huge game looms on Thursday against Anaheim. Let's get a huge two points that night.

I like that the red snake has stopped paralleling the purple snake. Continue!

I was curious to see what Columbus' snake would look like, given their current 13 game win streak. I plotted it against last season's 76 points, and their best season ever, 2013-14's 93 point campaign. Their current snake looks like it's on Viagra. Their purple snake didn't start to rise until game 9 of the season.

Yeah I agree. Even if the wheels fell off and in their remaining 49 games they only won 24, they would still finish the season with 100 points.

Well, if you put the Canucks franchise in front of any man he'll look incompetent. I always kinda thought of Torts as a mid-tier NHL coach, but oh boy does it look like he's got the right group of players for his coaching style this time around. I imagine it's also helped his current group that he's actually managed to show some restraint and not unleash full Tortorella wrath yet, we'll see how he handles them if/when they go on a bad stretch.

The Blue Jackets still don't have better Stanley Cup betting odds than the Oilers
The Flames are around the middle.
