I've been reluctant to wade into this thread too much because overall I find the level of hostility to be hard to grasp given what we are talking about here. Seems like everyone needs to cool down.
But I'll make a few observations in hopes that it helps the situation.
It seems to me that there needs to be a sincere effort on both parties to make this work. And by that I mean The Scorpion and those that have an issue with him.
Right now we are in a vicious circle where he hasn't really changed his behavior but the broader community is also jumping all over him. It is something darn close to bullying and that is kinda ugly. But he's also not doing much to help. And around and around we go.
The moderators are in a difficult spot here. We sincerely believe that Scorp is trying really hard to fit in and his intentions are genuine. Moreover, the way some have treated him is pretty poor. I'll count myself in that group as early in his days I was a dick to him. I've since tried to give him some more sincere advice and to help - but early on I was a turd. And as a moderator that set a poor example.
So I would say what needs to happen is
- Scorp needs to make a sincere effort to change his posting style. Post less. Don't see approval. Even in this page he has reminded us of the fact that HE started free agency thread. That's the kind of stuff that causes the community to react. I'll quote Harry Truman here: “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit". Respect will come by being a positive contributor to the site, but not reminding everyone of that, and trying to be involved with everything. Ease off.
- The community needs to really give this guy another chance and back off while he re-finds his footing.
Our aim here is NOT to ban him. But we also can't have threads constantly being de-railed by this. Something needs to change.
So can we PLEASE collectively try to make this work and just be nicer to each other?

In seriousness though I have no problems with the guy, he's a fine poster when he just posts. I do wish he'd relax a little about making his mark and just let it happen naturally.

The reason some members have taken issue with this, is your past comments. This isn't the first time this discussion has been had here.
There was a GDT started by you in the 2014-15 season. You didn't have time to do your usual long writeup, so you only posted the GDT and suggested others to update it. You did this at 5:30 am! Shortly after, Bingo added a poll. This was your response to the poll being added:
Bingo said he did since the write up was short. No harm, no foul. Then you replied with this:
Although you admit it's irrational, you basically imply that the GDTs are yours. Your are flat out saying they are yours to control.
Table 5 called you out a little bit on that, to which you replied:
We all understand how much work the long GDTs take. Many CP members have stated they do appreciate them. What people don't like, is being told they appreciate them. When you got called out in this thread for the same thing, you replied with this:
It's a passive aggressive way to get thanks. It's another example of you wanting recognition for your work. Whether it's here, or not on the internet, people don't want to continue to praise people that continue to ask for it. If you enjoy making the GDTs, keep doing them. If you are doing them for thanks, just be honest about it. I've done a few GDTs, including the current one, and I really enjoy doing them. I can see why others, like yourself, would also enjoy posting them. I just don't think the reason to make them should be for thanks whoring.
I am against a schedule because there are likely some people that would want to do one, but too timid to speak up, or don't want the pressure. But maybe, they see it's 8:00 am and there isn't one going. They get it going. Maybe you add your long write up to it as well. It doesn't matter where your information is in the thread. It doesn't matter to me who scores the game winning goal, as long as the Flames win.
