It's all downhill from here for the NFL season, we've peaked in week 1 at the Harlan drunk call. Nothing is coming close to that the remainder of the season. Alternate video sync that actually shows the drunk guy running around

Fisher should suspend himself. He's so far out of touch with the game the way it's played today.
Yeah it's kind of a mystery why he still has a job. He was the most hated man in St. Louis and will soon become the most hated man in LA. He's the most mediocre coach of all time. 6-7 wins is what he delivers nearly every year regardless of the talent he has to work with. That looked like a high school offense last night. Good luck selling that trash in LA.
Saints release CJ Spiller. He's fully healthy too (allegedly), can't imagine he'll be in street clothes for long...and the team who by far leads the league in dead money increases their lead, now over $40M on the books in 2016!
Can Loomis please stop taking shots at big name UFA's in the off-season? It blows up in their face EVERY time lately (Byrd, Browner, Spiller, etc..).
I love that Saints jersey. Since I refuse to buy a current Saints jersey (regarding the regular ones) until they fix that stupid new collar Nike somehow thought was cool, this will be a nice replacement.

25% of their current cap is allocated to dead cap space, which is pretty insane. Really though they need to blow that team up and get on with the rebuild. They aren't good enough to be a playoff team, let alone a threat to win it all. It's going to be painful no doubt, but it's necessary.

That's the thing though - Brees aside, they HAVE blown it up. I believe they were the youngest team in the league last year, and featured by far the most 1st and 2nd year players on a roster in the league. It's the quietest blowup ever, they have a very young roster.
There's a lot to like with the youth, even on D. Just leaving only 4 CBs on the roster after cutting Lewis in TC - with Breaux being the only one with any NFL experience-who had 1 year of experience - was clearly going to blow up in their faces. Especially now with Breaux out 6 weeks. Just keep going with the rebuild and stop swinging for the fences on these big name UFAs, it always blows up in their face.
Edit: Nevermind, they weren't close to the youngest. Most 1st and 2nd year players on the roster in the league by far, that's what it was. Either way, they're a much younger team than people realize methinks.

When Reggie McKenzie took over the Raiders they had 43.6% of their salary cap tied up in dead money in 2013 after he started cutting Al's overpaid players. Three years later thanks to good drafting things are turning around. Saints are probably doing the right thing long term by getting out of some bad deals and taking the pain now. However it kind of clashes with their window of winning with Brees that's going to close soon so they are kind of treading water. The offense is still very good but they haven't had a good defense since they won the Super Bowl and that's on Peyton and Loomis.
Totally, yep they're paying Jimmy Graham too (and Galette, Lewis..). Yeah where the Raiders used to be is actually the comparison being made to the Saints current situation on the Saints forums, sad state of affairs.
You're right, it absolutely falls on Payton/Loomis, they've had some horrible drafts from 2012-14 and are frankly paying the price for that now. It's also not helping that some of the young D studs they've picked up lately (Breaux, this year's 1st round pick DT Rankins, Swann, Kikaha) keep suffering long-term injuries, it's so frustrating. Payton pulled a Sutter for a few years, ending up with only 3 or 4 person drafts where they were basically all duds, it's bad.
And yes the clock on Brees is definitely throwing a wrench in things. Payton has never been shy about wanting to emulate the "Patriot model", I think he's trying to do a quick reboot of the roster around him - a la the Pats around Brady - and get them back in contention before it's too late. I'm actually impressed at how well the OL held up on Sunday, as long as it does that young offence looks lethal. But as always, it's the D holding things back. It's been the story of Payton's tenure, they just can't fix it no matter what they try or how much turnover there is. Hopefully guys like Breaux, Rankins and Kikaha can stay on the field in future seasons.
Years ago the Ravens got into the same situation. They still had good players on defence that they kept around until they dug themselves out of it, but they also ended up switching coaches. But the Ray Lewis, Ed Reed combo wasn't that old at the time.
I see teams like the Chargers and Saints who both have older QB's and really won't be sniffing a championship for at least 2 more years. Asset wise...moving your QB for a Herschel Walker return would make sense. But it's a hard sell to a fan base when the one guy who gives you a chance, get's sent out of town, particularly guys like Brees and Rivers who are well entrenched in those communities.
In the case of the Raiders, Reggie MacKenzie wasn't really starting with much in terms of talent, so it was an easier decision to take his medicine and set things up for today. The new CBA has also helped out as the high draft picks aren't quite as destructive on teams as they used to be when they don't work out. To McKenzie's credit though, he has drafted pretty well, and now has a team that looks like they will turn it around. In a way it's a lesson of what the Oilers could become if Chiarelli does in fact know what he's doing. When you get that many good picks you should eventually assemble some talent, and the Raiders have done that in the last 3 drafts.

I asked earlier in the thread but didn't get any responses. Anyone been to a game at Cowboys stadium? If so do you have any ticket advice? Where to buy? Etc.. I have been once before but it was preseason and we bought row 1 tickets.. Obviously not going to do that for a regular season game.
