No way is Bishop or Fleury worth anything close to that.

Steinberg was on 960 just before 1 and said that he was told Pittsburgh asked for 6OA and more for Fleury...

Rutherford can have fun with that contract come expansion draft time then.

then Rutherford can join a very exclusive club that only a select few high powered sports figures are allowed to join.

Basically since Calgary is one of the few options that are out there for his goalie and the Pens have some cap problems coming up that the answer is nope.

We can sit on it for a few months, and by the time you rejoin us on planet earth we'll have a nice second round pick waiting for you.

After the draft, after we have made all our picks and Rutherford realizes no one else can take on Fleury's contract, Rutherford will realize how badly he screwed the pooch and will have to add to Fleury just to get us to take him.

Fleury and Bo Bennett for a 2017 3rd Jim? Sure.

I'd be willing to do a 2nd and Raymond for Fleury at this point because Pittsburgh got stupid.

I honestly hope that if that was the ask by Pittsburgh, that BT's response was to laugh out loud and then hang up the phone believing it was a prank call.

Can't blame them for asking for a lot if they really believe they are better off keeping both goalies for now.

Murray has been solid everywhere he's played at every level, including the NHL. But young goalies can easily take a step back and if the Pens deal Fleury and Murray falters they risk throwing away a whole season (or more) while Sid and Geno continue to get older.

Imagine having Murray struggle next year and all they have to show for Fleury is a couple 2nd round draft choices still playing junior somewhere and a B prospect playing in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton or whatever you call there farm team.

It would be different if Murray was an RFA this summer and looking to get a big raise, but he's not. The two combined eat up about as much CAP as what you'd expect a good goalie tandem to.

I also don't think they are as worried as most here think they should be about expansion and what not. Lots of time, and there will be more than one team willing to deal for Fleury right up to the last minute next summer IMO. And if Fleury won't play ball (which I seriously doubt) then Murray could be easily moved as well.

I think a high second and a prospect like Wotherspoon is what MAF eventually gets traded for. Reasons: few buyers, cap, age, expansion draft.

I'd be fine with a trade like that. Give us Malkin, take Wideman and #6 and I'd be OK. LOL

If Calgary has MAF, then Reimer is likely available cheap (although I would like Calgary to get both and put goalie issues behind us). He would be a good 1B for Murray.

I can blame them for asking. That's an insulting offer. I'd kill all trade discussions.

Jim Rutherford - "So I think Fleury would be faaaabulous on your team buddy, I'm willing to cut you a special deal, cause your you. How about your 6oa and Sam Bennet for MAF?"

Brad Treliving - "Yeah you know your not talking to Peter Chiarelli right?"

Jim Rutherford - "Oh snap at my age I get Calgary and Edmonton mixed up all the time"

Maybe they asked for the 6th overall when the Flames said they'd Fleury's contract if the Pens threw in Malkin?
