So, did anyone notice Bill Daly when he looked at the #4 card -- it was small, almost imperceptible, but you could tell by his face that it was the Oilers before he showed it. Almost a mix of relief and smugness, but trained to hide it. Loved it.

So if Columbus wants both Finns, what could they offer Winnipeg?
Seth Jones?

What calibre NHL dman are you going to get for Tkachuk or Dubois? Probably not what the Oilers need. Vancouver has holes everywhere so I expect them to take the BPA. Don't think either team moves their picks unfortunately.

Best guess is probably one of Nylander, Brown, Sergachev, Chychrun, Juolevi
Button did his post-lottery mock draft and had the Canucks pick Brown at 5.

I say it's a D-man. I'm also one of the few who'd be OK with that.

If the Flames had picked second or third in 2014, they likely still would have picked Bennett. Would the Flames with Bennett picked second overall somehow be more likely to win the Cup than they are with Bennett picked fourth overall?
Also, Monahan would arguably have been a top-3 pick in a year with a less-deep prospect pool (and is currently definitely a top-3 performer from his draft class).

Sorry....you pick top three you keep it. Period. Forget these trade up fantasies. Not going to happen.

Probably a dman. Whichever dman they think has the best top pairing potential. Likely one of Sergachev, Juolevi or Chychrun.

Not Chychyrun. Too many injuries. Nylander or Brown. If the Buttons compare notes it is Brown.

I agree. .. a quick look back in draft history and selecting the first dman tends to be solid.

Personally, I hope that Bennett ends up being the highest Flames pick ever.

God #####in****** damn it. I so wanted Laine or Pulju for Calgary. I'm so disappointed.. but well at least Edmonton gets neither so I can somehow live with it...

Drafting a 6'6" forward like Brown kinda scares me. They almost never work out, and probably for the reason that their size is an advantage that more or less disappears in the NHL.
Generally that size only translates for goons, defence, and goalies.
John Scott at 6'8", Brian Boyle at 6'7", Bordeleau and Steve MacIntyre at 6'6"...
Antropov and Bjugstad at 6'6" are essentially the only exceptions on F, and obviously 3 of which were goons.

Like I said picking in the top-3 doesn't guarantee anything but it's necessary to win the cup, unfortunately.

Think we likely end up with Tkachuk or Dubois. Still a good outcome for us.
