I liked McLean as host. And I don't mind Stombo either.
Just give me a good quality broadcast.

Reading the comments on that G&M article...wow. A lot of people really hate Strombo haha. I guess I prefer the old CBC broadcasts but I think thats just mostly nostalgia because the only time I got to see the Flames on TV was when they played an HNIC game.
I dislike Healy and Cox and those guys but I refuse to believe ratings are down because of the personalities on a five minute panel session, as other people have said weather, quality of play, and other teams such as the Jays and Raptors are responsible for the ratings drop.

I don't quite get the hate for Strombo. I haven't had any issues with him. I don't really miss Ron MacLean either.

I thought Strachan was pretty good in the early 90s, but either he got old and out of touch or I really started to pay attention to what he was saying. In the end he just wasn't any good anymore. He didn't have the personality like Don Cherry to extend his stay on TV.

Earrings, interrupting, and touching of the analysts do it for me. Don't much care for how he dresses either.
Leah Hextall is 100x the host Strombo is.

Other than super awkward fistbumps (which could be more the fault of the fistbump recipient...) I have no problem with him as a host.

The skinny pants. The suits tailored to have the skinny pants look. The overly pointy dress shoes. More bracelets than Steven Tyler. I'm guessing he comes out with a man-bun this fall after he has the off-season to grow it. Two more seasons and I'm guessing he comes out looking like Dave Navarro.
CBC needs to give this dweeb the gas pipe.

Last night was pathetic. Chicago scored ot winner, maybe a minute after the goal, an abrupt mid sentence cutaway from the blues feed they were using, and right into SN connected. No post game analysis, no reaction, nothing. Straight to Connected. I get that it was late in the east, but come one. Pathetic.

The fact that SN is withholding the nationial broadcasts from NBC is unforgivable. If it is because they don't want us to remember what quality PBP sounds like with Cuthbert and Miller then it just shows that even they know they are ####ing us over with a sad and pathetic product.

Ron MacLean was terrible. He had this notion that he had gained some unrivaled credibility as an analyst and he was terrible at it. Strombo knows his place. The problem is the other guys. Basically, everything is fine as long as Friedman is on my screen. When he's not, there's not much reason to listen.
The broadcast teams are hit or miss, but yeah, when you've got Cuthbert and Miller calling for NBC it really exposes people like Romanuk. Romanuk calling a playoff game just massively detracts from its sense of importance and grandeur.

Romanuk is awful, but I enjoy Mike Johnson. As an Nhltv subscriber I have the choice of the NBC feed, and sometimes i pick the CBC feed (sometimes = 1 out of 5).

Strombo is terrible - I don't know anyone in my age group (mid 20s) who enjoys him on HNiC.

Don't think she was ever a Sportsnet hire. She was (and I believe still is) working with CBC.

No she's with TSN. She's on That's Hockey.
I didn't follow that closely but I'm sure others can confirm, did she ever do any CBC work after SN took over? I don't recall seeing her on HNIC at all this season, then again I don't watch much intermission stuff.

bleh, I can't stand McLean, and his blathering on about the Oilers a couple of summers ago sealed my dislike.

Scott Oak produced some odd interviews and between period interviews. I can't seem to find any links, but that is my recollection.
Of course, I might be thinking of someone else.
