Spectacular start in Japan if not just because seeing the reaction times is astounding. It's like watching a flock of birds or hive of insects where you almost feel like their must be instinctive or collective awareness. I have no idea how no one made contact with all that frantic swerving.
Great start, good race. Almost too bad that Lewis got such a bad start would've been nice to have seen some competition between himself and Rosberg.
Max with another controversial defense. surprised to see Brundle defend him so much even when he said that he thought Max moved under braking. Watching again I think Lewis dummied inside to go outside and just screwed it up.

Random thought while watching the podium. What happens if Max finisheson the podium in Austin? Is he allowed to drink the champagne? Can he spray it and just not drink it? what are the rules there?

Private event on private property... He probably sprays it and drinks it.
Good race, not the most memorable but I like the course and there was lots of overtaking. Hamilton was so close to getting pole in qualifying. It sounds like he got worked upa bit over the water in his lane, and maybe was mentally not there for the start. He is really gonig to have to have luck on his side to win the championship. Good driving isn't gonig to be enough. Looking at last year, Austin is the only rremaining track Lewis beat Nico on.
To bad for Honda, would have been nice for them to do better at their home track.
I'm starting to get more excited for 2017. New cars and tires should keep it interesting. Would be nie to have 3 or 4 teams at this stage of the year all in the running.
Anyone else watch Formula E? I watched most of the first season, and a bit of the second. It got very hard to find after mid-year and I lost interest. It was a pleasant surprise to see it actually airing on Fox and my PVR picked it up. I only caught the start last night, will watch it today. When I first saw the redesigned car I thought it looked cool but seeing them on track together they look a bit silly. They are doing 2 races in Montreal for the first time, so that should be cool. Hoping they use the Circuit Gilled Villeneuve but I suspect the long striaghts will be to much for these cars.
How about driver specific liveries? It's a brilliant idea if you ask me. Especially for people watching the race live. Cars are far too fast to read the numbers or tell the difference in helmet designs. Only the normal and neon green air intake above the drivers head can really distinguish them.
I love watching the commentators in Texas like they have entered some weird twilight zone. It's fun seeing them try to explain it.
Good quali lap from Hamilton. Ferrari is not good. I forsee lots of lapping by the Mercs tomorrow. My hop for tomorrow...Hamilton winning, Rosberg not finishing to tighten up the championship. And my be the Ferrari's somehow finishing ahead of Red Bull. Through some miracle...
I don't even care that he's rather unpopular in the race community due to his reckless driving and the fact that he's a pay driver. I think it is awesome to have a canadian on board. Here's hoping Williams can produce a competitive 2017 car.

The race was not particularly interesting until the last 5 or so laps. Wow did everything go crazy.
Vettel needs to chill out.
So the race actually finished Ves, Vet, Ric but Ves was given a penalty so Vettel crashed the podium, only for Vet to be given a penalty after the podium ceremony for blocking Ric towards the end of the race.

Meaning the actual result is now Ric, Ves, Vet.
Weird.
I think they got it right but it's still weird. Rule whatever it is 27.3 or something like that says you can't abruptly change direction which is what Max buddy does every race. Vettel did just that to Ricky boy. Penalized. Max penalized for going the grass route.
What should be happening is they should lower the boom on Max / think that's why Vettel went so over the top as he has been watching it all year long.
Good article on Stroll's somewhat controversial signing with Williams.
There are rumours his billionaire dad is paying Williams upwards of $35 million for his son to drive there and spent another $70m-$80m of his own money to fund special development and research specifically for Lance, including having his own private sim that Massa and Bottas haven't been allowed to use and actually making his own custom fitted 2015 Williams car to simulate the 2017 cars for Lance to train in.
Anyway, I don't care, he's canadian. Money talks when it comes to constructors and they get huge advantages over the smaller teams, why shouldn't this kid get better chances because his dad is rich? And if the kid wasn't good, it wouldn't matter how rich his dad was because you can't buy a seat in F1 if you flat out suck.
Finally got a chance to watch, I don't understand the stewards. It was a clear case of Max cutting a few corners off the course. They should immediately tell him to give up the position. I don't care if it is the last lap. By delaying the decision, you get what we saw, that it affects other parts of the race and the championship points. I want to see position changes on the track, not after the race.
Where Vettel went at Ricardo it looked like he was making a move on Max at the same time.
Would have liked to see Rosberg a few places back to tighten up the points a bit.
I'm happy Stroll is in. Money talks in this game, Williams isn't the only team that has paying drivers. He has the talent, lets see what he can do. Will be nice to have a Canadian to cheer for again, and on a decent team, no less.
It's tough because I had no plans to go to the race in Montreal again this year because three years in a row seemed like too much, I figured I would do a different trip. However now that stroll in I really want to make the trip because I think it could be a fun race with all everyone cheering for him. On the other hand if he has a long future in F1 going to a race at some point in the future might be better because he'll probably have a better chance to win a couple years from now as opposed to right away.
Q:You saw Vettel and Daniel have an issue with Vettel changing direction in the braking zone.
A:yes, that was very bad he should not have done that.
Q:but that is the type of thing other drivers have accused you of doing.
A:well yes, but you see I do it in a good way.
