The NHL should award the Flames an extra draft pick as recompense for the palava which they have put as all through... (and for not spotting that the puck crossed the fricken line in 2004).

irrelevant question, and NOT trying to rile up conversation about Burke/Treliving, but curious why it is the president to handle the media for this incident and not the GM (why is burke speaking at 6:45 Est on this topic)?

Burke is a former lawyer and as such is much more qualified to speak on this matter than Treliving IMO.
Burke also used to work for the NHL so he has more knowledge from that end as well.

Because Burke can weather the storm better than anyone in hockey and has the pedigree to call the league out without burning bridges.

It does seem like a more 'Presidential' duty.
This is outside of the game now.
So, when are we going to start the betting in regards to the state of Burkie's tie?
The bull's-eye is if he actually unties it on air.

It is a little amusing that when Bettman ruled on the appeal to him, many people postulated that he held it at 20 with an expectation that an arbitrator would reduce it to 10.
Now that that has happened, we are now imagining that Bettman was blindsided.
Umm...

Blindsided maybe not, but chopping a suspension in half is a pretty big deal and remember that Bettman's ruling talked about no reason to increase the suspension

Empty presser, really.
- needs to be faster process
- grateful arbitrator ruled it was not intent to injure
- Considers matter closed.
Questions.
-Francis trolling, trying to get Burke to admit the team failed to pull Wideman out despite concussion. Burke got offended.
- Asked about letting players play through appeal, he bluntly said it wasn't something he was interested in supporting.
- Wont seek compensation.
