You may notice Gillies a ways up the list from that guy in Edmonton.
This is really very interesting to me. I see that he gives a team grade "A" to the Calgary Flames for their goaltending depth, but only an "A-" to Pittsburgh, who boasts a very solid looking minor league tandem in Matt Murray and Tristan Jarry. It seems from reading the accompanying article that Balloch still regards Joni Ortio quite highly. I know that Estrada offered from an inside source that Ortio is not in the Flames' plans for the future, but I have to wonder now especially with his strong play of late how much this opinion is subject to change.

Ortio will enter the off-season as an RFA, and I am still convinced that the club's best option is to re-sign him and have him either compete for a spot in training camp or to use him in a trade for another goalie.

"Note: The letter grade is for the entire organization as a whole, not just that one goalie. Depth is a major component of a strong system."

Just wanted to bring this up...

Ortio was rumored to train with Kipper in the summer to my memory. If so then Kipper shows him how to slow start the season like he did every year. Do we give him a chance to start next season as he has been decent down the stretch.

Record of 4-4-3 with a 2.54 GAA and 9.11 S%

GAA - i dont know the exact minutes he played (OT or Pulled) so i went with Games to calculate.

He over extends himself on some plays like a goal last night, but i think he is learning well and feel Calgary would have been in a playoff contention spot with him in nets all season.

It's a pet peeve of mine to take a playet's stats over his best stretch of games and project over a full season. Why not do it for their worst stretch too? I do get the point you are making with Ortio's play since his recent call up but still, the overall picture with him is very mixed. Maybe he is in the mix for a backup but not sure I would pencil him in.
